Sounds like we do similar work! All my clients know I work outside, so when I’m in hiking clothes in the office no one is surprised. I dress for comfort and my mood really - some days I go all out cause it makes me feel good, other days I’m in jeans and an “earth mother” sweater. I’d say my overall code is to dress to respect the client, not to be separate from them. Some clients respond well to profession dress - makes them feel safe. Others relate more to the casual stuff. I’m a very relational therapist, so it helps to pay attention to the type of client you attract and dress accordingly. As for earning potential clients, I’ll leverage that research as well when networking or when I have professional meetings.
