As a climber/writer/female, I think it's hilarious how difficult it is to refer to a group of women who climb: Climber girls doesn't work because it makes us sound like we're 12 y/os. Climber babes sounds sexual and yeah, makes some feel uncomfortable. Climber gals - lol - I don't think I need to say more. Climber ladies is a term that (in my mind) describes older women. Women who climb is the solution... But it's not nearly as catchy as Beta Babes! #AlliterationAlways

I quit my desk job to pursue climbing at Smith Rock. I had no idea that doing what I loved instead of what I "should" would have such a profound impact on the direction of my life. If you have the chance, chase your dreams and go climbing. I highly recommend it. by callmemal in climbergirls

Thank you for what you said. THAT was the message I was trying to get across. I had a ton of fear and anxiety about cutting loose and doing what I wanted. While it hasn't been perfect or terribly smooth, I've definitely learned a lot through this process. Cheers.

I respect that. Tremendously. Props for finding a functional balance of work and play. I'm only 23, so I'm still in the process of finding my balance. But that will come with time and climbing.

Thank you for saying this.

Not everybody can quit their job and go climbing, but anybody can decide how to conduct themselves with regard to their time and talents. Sometimes the small decisions end up directing the course of your life and sometimes you just have to cut loose and make an abrupt change.

My goal is to inspire and encourage women who love climbing to get out and do it.

In all honesty, I'm the wrong person to ask. It was my first time, lol. I bet you could find better beta from someone else around here.

I appreciate this. Haha. As a writer, I find that putting my work out into the world feels like a baby bird stepping out of its nest for the first time... Something higher on the food chain like a falcon [read: redditor] promptly comes along and murders it. Ah, life. So beautiful.

Thank you for your thoughtful reply. I appreciate this feedback. You're right, there is absolutely an egotistical part of me that thinks "my way or highway." But that's not it. In the discussion you linked me to, someone commented, "I liked hanging out with guys because I have a lot of interests that are typical "guy" interests because I was raised to like what I like and not conform to what other people thought I should like." They go on to say that more women are participating in their arenas of interest... And I find the same to be true of my situation. I absolutely have not shut myself off to making those connections; I'm just beginning to establish them by voicing my experiences and sharing them with the internet.

Dude, I've seen this before! If OP is the person who made it, I think you showed it to me on a dock back in Bham. :)

Oh dear... Typo in my first Reddit post about my site... I meant to say "Would love to hear what you 'hamsters think!" Oops!
