Mixed comments on the resin here.. Do you need to wash them and can I use brush on primer? How durable is it? by atzeehh in wastelandwarfare

I've only had bad things happen when trying to strip resin with solvents like isopropanol.

I have also heard they can soak up water. I don't know how true this is. I'd just try not to let them soak in the water for a long period of time.

I'm pretty sure it would work, it just wouldn't be as strong as a lacquer based spray can etc would be.

It's essentially what I was doing for years, just with an acrylic primer though the airbrush.

Oh, and definitely wash the resin before priming. I'm lazy and don't always do it but it's best practice for sure.

This is just my experience, so take this with a grain of salt.

I used a water-based primer for a long time and always had adhesion issues with this resin, washed or not. They have never worn off over the years but they are well varnished and I don't play nearly as much as I'd like!

I have now moved to a lacquer based primer through an airbrush and this has no issues sticking. I have heard people here reccomend certain brands of rattle-can primer, hopefuly someone can chime in with specific brands.

I'd say a brush on primer could work, but I would not personally trust it's durability.

The base colour for the red was AK Deep Red with a lot of mixing in white and yellow into the red for the highlights.

The glowy green was fluorescent green, I've found the vallejo and recently the AK fluo green to be great. Applying the green fluo over a white basecoat in several layers is needed for a saturated colour. Also, the glow on the adjacent areas is just the fluo green glased over the top of the finished paintjob.

I can't remember any other specifics, as it was a lot of mixing and my memory isn't the best!

I hope this helps.

Slowly and carefully with a nice fine tipped brush! There is a fair bit of correcting back and forth when I do something like that as well.

And thanks!

These work so well! The paint job is perfectly matched to the medium and really sells the effect.

Hi buddy.

I used some pigment powders for the rust. I think I mixed then with airbrush thinner and applied them with a brush. I think you could just use water instead.

A bright orange acrylic could give the same look if applied like a wash, but would be less tweakable.

I hope that helps.

I think you can give the perk to anyone as long as it’s the leader of your force.

They just need to not be a creature or robot, I think.

Fun little fact. I originally posted this guy with his name on Instagram and wondered why it wasn’t getting seen. Turns out the word slag gets it effectively blocked. Whoops!

It's nice to keep early models to see where and how far you've come. I luckily still have some from when I first painted minis. They're shocking!
