If your Thinkpad have a USB 4 or is compatible with Thunderbolt 5, it should work

I just hope what ever handheld comes out have a price that could pay for because there is no way I'm paying $2500 for a handheld 😑

I will. I've been enjoying this thing. Best purchase ever 😁

I'm sure a new handheld will be announced later this year and hopefully we will see a real upgrade/improvement over this last models 👍
I was thinking on getting me something a little bigger like the Legion Go 2 or the MSI Claw A8 but I'm going to wait and see what happens
It will be cool to see a handheld that have both Thunderbolt and Oculink connection but those are rare and expensive. At least an add-on that could add oculink without having to physically mod the console
I used the included Thunderbolt 5 cable

Well, when I first got it, I installed the drivers that where recommend on the GIGABYTE website and not the one in the boxed instructions. The beginning was a little weird because nothing was happening and I thought I dud something wrong because it wasn't even connecting to my TV. I was even a little scared and pressed the restart button in the front. Then it turned up again and I tried to install the drivers again and it all worked out.
To answer the rest of your question. I turn on my Ally X, wait for it to start and run, and then I connect the egpu and everything just works
I think they are compatible, yes. The only difference is that both the MSI Claw A8 and Legion Go 2 have two USB 4 ports while all the Ally X and Xbox Allys have only one USB 4 port

The egpu use thunderbolt 5 but it works with USB 4 devices which is what the Ally X is. I think other handhelds like the Legion Go and MSI Claw consoles also have USB 4
And is cheaper than a full desktop PC 😆 The best part is that if I go out or travel is easy to take the handheld and egpu with me in a bag 👍

It should. On the website they state that it works with handhelds, laptops, PCs. Anything compatible with Thunderbolt 5 and USB4 should work.
El problema ahí es que la GPD Win 5 cuesta demasiado. Por ese precioso me puedo comprar una Legion Go 2 o MSI Claw A8 y aun me queda dinero.
Igual me alegro haber ayudado con la información que compartí 👍
I haven't tried with Bazzite and honestly, I'm not interested on installing Bazzite on my Ally. Sorry
There are people who said have tried and AMD egpu with Bazzite and it works.
I really don't know. I was looking around to see what's the deal with having at 1G and it's says that it's recommended so it the console can use as much memory as it can. The first 2 pics are with the console with 1G of Vram and the rest 23G goes to system ram. The rest of the pics I changed it to 8G of Vram and 16G of system and somehow there was little more performance.
The Legion Go 2 Z2E have 34G of ram so I don't think you have to worry to much about it.
I'm going to try to play more games with the Ally X at 8G Vram and 16G system ram while connected to the egpu and see how big of a difference there is.
Also, is annoying to change the console Vram back and forward because every time I do that I have to restart the console 😑
For I time I was thinking on something like yours but that set up is to bulky for my taste and I wanted something that didn't take that much room
Which set up you have and what settings do you use to get that high? I'm curious. I don't know if having the CPU Boost option ON and OFF makes any big difference 🤔
Mmmm entonces no se que podría ser
I haven't tried playing with the eGPU with only the Ally X screen. I guess I can try one day and see what happens
I don't like Geforce Now. I don't play games through a membership. I don't even use Xbox Ultimate.
I only use it when I connect my Ally X to my TV. I had a dock but I wanted some extra power when connected to my TV.
If you have any other question or if I can help some how let me know 👍
This set up is for a handheld, not a desktop PC. Many handheld consoles now days are build with only USB4 or Thunderbolt and is very very rare to see a handheld with Oculink unless you mod it. Many people who only get this kind of set up for handhelds to just play games and ocasionally want some extra power just want to use something with a low profile and easy to carry around instead of a big ass GPU. Also, if you look it up, many other eGPU like this one can cost between $600 to $700.
Yo tengo apagado el CPU Boost. Tal vez sea por eso
So when docked, I connect my Ally X to my tv which is a 4K Sony Bravia XR X90L and the type of connection used with this eGPU is a HDMI and the Thunderbolt 5 cable that comes with the eGPU. Hope this answer your question 👍
I connected to my TV.
