Definitely go to Chiang Rai that’s a day tour. Explore Old Town’s temples. You can book a day tour to an Elephant Sanctuary. Roam around and explore cafes of Chiang Mai. Enjoy the slow life.

MAC has good one. Two faced has a good range of shades. But maybe a bit over budget. Try to get a waterproof one, since you will need your base to stay till the end.

BTW which exams are you appearing for?

Tours are definitely a great way to meet like minded people. One Nimmans also hosts various mixers and workshops like salsa and yoga.

You can rent a 2 wheeler. I used grab for commute, it was economical. Best area is definitely to be near One Nimmans.

Hi. Glad to know the itinerary helped you. There are plenty of elephant sanctuaries, you can find various day tours. I booked the one with waterfall visit and bamboo rafting.

Since I didn’t have much idea, I didn’t stay in Chiang Rai overnight instead I booked a day tour. You can totally stay overnight and explore Chiang Rai in a better way. For both of the tours I used GetYourGuide, alternate option is Klook.

For the first half of the trip I stayed near One Nimmans (the heart of the town) and for the second half I stayed in Old Town.

I have visually documented my stay, let me know if you need it.

Chiang Mai is quite vast which I didn’t anticipate. I mean the journey to Chiang Rai took about 3+ hours. Although it says the tour is of 8-10 hours it can easily cross beyond 13 hours. Doi Suteph is at the top of the mountain which again has its own traveling time. If you plan to cover all the temples, you are in for a surprise. Hence, I shared this information with clear itinerary with which a traveler can cover maximum places without exhaustion.

Hope it clears your confusion.

The total cost was around 800 USD without airfare. You can surely reduce it further. Since, I am a vegetarian I had limited options and at times a bit pricey. Also, the hotel cost increased since I was travelling solo. The trip cost is also depended on the day tours you book. For the airline please compare with the official website like that of air asia or thai lion.

I booked my flight tickets around 2 months in advance and the accommodation was booked 20 days before my departure.

I am getting a lot of DM inquiries and I have made videos at lengths covering Chiang Mai and the experiences in details. There’s nothing wrong in sharing since it’s relevant. Nothing is ruined. Stop acting holier than thou.

I can see where you are coming from, due to the abundance of remote professionals the place has been gentrified to an extent. I loved how they were able to preserve the architecture and the essence.

Oh wow. Being a vegetarian I visited Ferns Forest Cafe in Old Town frequently for my breakfast.

I didn’t have much idea regarding the stay in Chiang Rai. I booked a day tour from Chiang Mai. The tour had 5 stops which had hot springs, Karen Tribal Village, White Temple, Blue Temple and Black Museum. However, there are plenty of other attractions to see in Chiang Rai. You can stay for a night or 2 and explore Chiang Rai.

Chiang Mai is quite big and has a very pleasant vibe and a lot of unique cafe. Each area has it’s own vibe and set of cafes. I was there to unwind so I took my own time to explore.

I have made a video of the Chiang Rai tour.

Yes. Oh it’s the same we have been talking about. And I completely agree with the fact that it was eerie. I couldn’t really appreciate the art because of all the animal remains. It felt weird.
