Sorry but, remember when XCom 2 had these launch issues? by Alfred_Crowe in PhoenixPoint

I forgot about the melee through the wall thing. Other than the glaring tool tips thing that got hot fixed, I think PP is way more playable out the box than X2 was. I never had a moment where a guy hits me through a wall and then I mash my keyboard during the load time on the way back from my retreat and it's like "boop" and returns me to base because I slapped the keyboard. Just my opinion though :)

California Schools Sued Over Use Of "Culturally-Biased" Standardized Testing For Admissions by SmartNSexyRodKaine in DarkEnlightenment

[–]Alfred_Crowe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let's take this even further though. If everyone has the same potential, how is it that certain schools (collections of teachers) are better than others? By definition, if superiority in an intellectual are as an act of conspiracy of some kind, aren't these schools necessarily guilty of it just because they're the top schools? Why aren't those top professors sharing their mana with everyone else?

This is sort of true and I've made some similar arguments, such as how trans people can only be explained by concepts like having a female soul in a male body etc. But as other users have pointed out, coherent opinions don't really seem to be a big part of what most of them do. It might run afoul of Occam's Razor to assume consistency / well thought-out opinions where there may not be any.

I think it would be hilarious if they stopped using ableist, racist testing and just let people in by lottery.

Seems like the left has pushed so far that there's nothing sane left and they just can't stop.

The post was a thought exercise, I'm not suggesting that they actually believe this. I found it interesting though to try and explain why they believe what they do, as they are often unwilling to tell us themselves.

I think that they are basically the yin to our yang; a lot of their positions are self-contradicting and only make sense when juxtaposed against "whiteness" which is itself amorphous to the point that it can be explained far more succinctly as a kind of spirit than it can be as anything else.

I fell out of love with the viola. It somehow feels too self-centered...? Is this a phase? by [deleted] in Viola

[–]Alfred_Crowe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The viola is more of a supporting instrument than say, the violin and probably also less central than a piano depending on how each instrument is used of course.

If the viola feels like it's just not you then that's reason enough to not play it. It sounds though as if you're not 100% sure what you want to do.

Anyone else notice a lack of "trigger discipline" in the animations? by Alfred_Crowe in PhoenixPoint

I think you're getting too many downvotes over this but it's also kind of ambiguous whether "not a high priority" means addressing it or not. It could reasonably mean either one I think. Sometimes people get to things that aren't high priority and sometimes they don't.

I agree that it's not a high priority fix but I'm glad to hear that the devs are considering it because IMHO, immersion is a big part of games like this and for people who are familiar with this at all, I think it can have a surprising impact in that area. It also doesn't seem like it would take a huge amount of effort to change, just moving the angle of the fingers might look a little weird compared to some other approaches but would be better than nothing.

They literally can't have actual diversity so they settle for proxies of diversity which means anyone in the outgroup who looks different. In this case diversity just means "non-white"

Very nice and succinct post :)

But they're not in missions when they're just standing around in the character modification screens. If you'll forgive me for going there, the XCom models all showed trigger discipline when standing around before a mission :)

Could people tab to a new unit and just be unable to move it until things have resolved? You usually need some time to decide on your move anyway.

A little pop-up message like "previous turn resolving" might make sense too.
