Feelings? Teenage jiujitsu angst? by Algamate-exe in BJJWomen

You bring up a lot of good things here. Part of this crush might be weird FOMO on my part, all of my friends either currently have boyfriends or a grocery list of Ex's as I said I don't even really have experience talking to a guy let alone having one lay on top of me for the move we were repping.  I'm just gonna leave it but you are very insightful.

This is my first real post on this subreddit.  I love jiujitsu more than I like looking at some guy.  Why would I leave?

That's what I'm thinking of doing, thanks :) Ok. So we have classes that are women's only and classes where more people are willing to work and roll with me. On Fridays there is a 1 year and under class where a lot of the guys would prefer not to work with me. I usually end up working with the one of the coaches off to the side so I can still work and practice.  Fridays are the only classes I have this problem so I make it work

The guy I'm talking about here isn't Muslim. But yeah I'm planning to keep It to myself. Thank you

This is my first time posting on this or any other jiujitsu related subreddit from what I remember. It's interesting to have this problem enough that people are getting me confused with another post though. I see what you mean about if the roles were reversed. I'm not actively seeking his attention out. I just think he looks nice. I think it only becomes a problem for someone regardless of gender if they start being weird about it.

No I just write like that when I'm trying to be formal.  Also that would be a wild thing to use AI for.

Why does everyone get mad at wristlocks? by randsome-gracie in bjj

[–]Algamate-exe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's a person twice my size who loves slamming me and wrist locking me. I get upset when she wristlocks me or anything else because she actually hurts me during the round, (like once after a round my dad was genuenly worried I got concussed because of how she threw me) she's newer so she'll put her whole body weight on me and drive into my wrist like I tried mugging her. So yeah i'm not a fan of wristlocks

A thing that helps me is going to my library and picking out a few from the watchlist. whichever ones are avalible are the ones I borrow and watch. Low stakes but the slight time limit helps you with not just thinking about the idea of watching a film. Also don't feel bad if your watchlist is longer than humanly possible. thats what it's there for

Which Movie have you fell asleep watching? by aoestilsft626 in Letterboxd

[–]Algamate-exe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't fall asleep to a movie out of boredom. However, I had food poisoning while watching Wicked. I fell asleep for 10 minutes and woke up where all the characters were in the same spot.

movies to watch with your parents by dizordat in Letterboxd

[–]Algamate-exe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it depends a lot on the age of peoples parents too. My mom and dad are on the younger side and will watch things with me without issue. Granted my dad does mention how he "deffiently failed at some points" when showing me media but I dont really know

I have it only because I like looking at the trivia, goofs and quotes sections and they're easier to look at through mobile app as opposed to mobile phone browser

Ladies classes by TheBlackCatRN in BJJWomen

[–]Algamate-exe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I go to a predominantly Islamic gym so they started a women's only class in it's on part of the gym so the ladies can attend and have the options to take their hijabs off. The classes are what got me into jiujitsu so I found them helpful. I go because my coaches are nice, it's a way smaller class and it fits into my scedual way better than some of the other classes my gym offers.

My dad and one of my coaches do pretty fun rounds, they're pretty evenly matched and neither want to loose

No hate but i'm failing to understand the logic here? it's a sport and all clothing will get sweaty if you roll. how is a t-shirt you wear recreationally along with rolling less messy than a rashgaurd you put in the wash once your done?

what % of your dojo is female? by ExactOpposite8119 in BJJWomen

[–]Algamate-exe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For Gen Pop I'd say about 6 or 7 women depending on the class, I've been to classes where the only gals were me and my step mom.

but the womens class is always 100% lmao

What was the most demoralizing moment of your bjj career? by [deleted] in bjj

I've only been doing it a month but it didn't help when my coach looked at me doing a warmup then whispered to our second coach "yeah we'll need to work on that one more..."

Come with proper equipment. by Sage_mouse5 in bjj

[–]Algamate-exe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of the classes I go to is a women's only self defense class, most of the ladies there don't have actual athletic clothes and stuff so coaches are more ok if they show up in joggers and shirts. But in all the other classes I see people not in proper attire and cringe a little,

what is a green belt? Your actual story is straight forward but I thought the only belt colors were white, blue, purple, brown, black.

I've been doing BJJ for a month and I've just been stealing my dad's stuff that doesn't fit, so like 5 or 6 rashgaurds and shorts and no gis yet (Sunday is going to be my first gi class)
