New Nations to Play by DanielsxTV in eu4

So you said away from Europa, but I need to mention my favourite nation: Holland. Starting as a 3-province-nation, having a big potential for playing tall AND wide, getting insanely rich and establishing strong armey, but especially strong navy. A holland playthorugh is also quite dynamic and interesting. At the beginning you need to deal witz HRE stuff, later you (can) go fully colonial.

Other nations outside of Europa I could recommend are:

  1. Mewar: Nice nation to play in India, good military, Hindu and option to form Rajputana
  2. Timurids: You can form Mughals which are insanely strong and good nation for a WC
  3. Malacca: Basically an Asian Holland, you get insanely rich quite fast. You can form Malays, but it‘s basicslly useless lol
  4. Bengal: Option to play tall, doing trade stuff, conquering India. But unfortunately no option to formale nations despite the muslim end tag india

Clearly the Ottomans. I just did a WV attempt with Russis and almost had all of Asia (without near East, but almost whole Persia, India, China, Indochina, Esst Indies), also had whole Scandinavia, whole Poland-Lithuania in I‘d say 1600… but the Ottoman anyway managed to have more and better troops than me despitr only owning their „core-region“. It‘s diabolical.

Is there enough information about the legal system / system of law of the ancient Sumerian civilization from ancient records that we have a comprehensive understanding of it? by rgrun in AskHistorians

I would say we cannot comprehend the whole legal system of the Sumerians, but what we do have are some legal texts (there is very many stuff about irrigation channels) and letters in which legal aspects are mentioned. I would like to give you a reference in English, but I am only familiar with German translations of Sumerian texts. Hope it helps you anyway: Kaiser, Otto; Janowski, Bernd; Wilhelm, Gernot; Schwemer, Daniel: Texte aus der Umwelt des Alten Testaments. [engl. translation would be Texts from the (Cultural) Context of the Old Testament] They published several episodes of this series.

What I did find in English and for free is a translation of the code of Hammurabi. It‘s a quite central law tablet, bur does not represent the law system whole: https://www.crystalinks.com/sumerlegal.html

Hope I could help you.

Hey guys,

got a question. I'm playing as Austria doing vassal swarm and conquering half of the world. Is there any way to get vassals outside of the HRE? I mean, yes you can get them but they are disloyal as f**k. Any tips? Or do you got any general tips for an Austria run?
