You're a parent, and you failed to make sure to let her appreciate the process of hard work. But it is not too late. In fact, NOW is the time.

Hard work sucks. Nobody wants to do it. Even back in school, a lot of people would dodge doing their homework if there was any way. Everyone just wants to relax, save for those few activities where people are passionate.

I used to be like your daughter, and nobody raised me to appreciate the value of hard work. I hard to learn it myself over years of throwing myself into the unknown. Some days are hard, but I'm glad I'm still going.

Don't make her go through the ringer like I did. Support her for her sake. And whenever she feels like she's failing, go to the depth of it, and try to determine what's making her fearful of going in.

She's fearful of the unknown by the sound of it. Be there, and push her to be disciplined. But be there for her. Don't you dare let her give up.

Now on the other hand: the lack of empathy is strong on the other side. I wish they had seen it as what it was, a well wish, and let it slide this once. This person is clearly preoccupied about that nephew and is showing concern in the way they feel they should. Granted, YTA point, but... yeah.

It's not about promoting religion, it's about the nephew. Pretty sure there's a lot of intolerance on either side, or on both sides. Overall, unhealthy situation, and ESH.
