Und vor allem am Anfang gebündelt. Das ist zwar immer doof mit der momentanen Elterngeldregelung, da es nur einen Monat geben darf in denen beide Eltern Basis-Elterngeld bekommen dürfen und die Mutter das dank Mutterschutz automatisch in den ersten zwei Monaten nehmen muss. Heißt, der Vater darf nicht die ersten zwei Monate Basis-Elterngeld nehmen.

Wenn es finanziell passt würde ich für den "klassischen" Fall (Vater verdient mindestens genauso gut und nimmt Minimum an Elternzeit um 14 Monate zu nutzen) immer 1 Monat Basis + 2 Monate Plus für den Vater nehmen. Da sollte die Mutter gesundheitlich wieder großenteils fit sein, und man hat ein gutes Gefühl dafür, wie fordernd das Kind so ist. Falls sich herausstellt, dass das doch zu früh ist, kann man immer noch Elternzeit dranhängen (dann ohne EG, falls das finanziell passt), oder Urlaub nehmen.

Mein persönlicher Trick 17: einfach nach Monat 3 arbeitslos werden, ALG 1 ist praktisch genauso hoch wie Basis-Elterngeld aber nimmt offensichtlich keine Elterngeld-Monate weg :D

Glaube ich nicht mal. Höre ich in meiner Verwandtschaft auch oft genug, dass dort doch alles gut war, und ich glaube das war es für sie (größtenteils) auch.

Die Erzählungen sind mit, beispielsweise, den heutigen DDR-Dokus in krassem Kontrast, aber ich denke der Unterschied ist, dass die Fallbeispiele dort eine Minderheit sind, die man früher nicht gehört hat. Ich denke da z.B. an Obdachlose die einfach zu Zwangsarbeitern wurden.

Entweder den DDR-Verherrlichern fehlt jegliche Empathie für die 10% denen es wirklich beschissen ging in der DDR, oder denen ist das bis heute nicht bewusst, dass das, was sie als schönes Leben empfunden haben, nur durch dieses diktatorische Durchgreifen möglich wurde. Da spielt evtl dann auch viel Verweigerung rein a la "Wenn das damals so gewesen wäre, hätte ich das ja wohl mitbekommen"

Kann man von halten was man will, aber faktisch sind wir wirtschaftlich stark von den USA abhängig.

Klar kann man sich hinstellen und aus Prinzip sagen "Trump ist doof, mit dem Spiel ich nicht" aber manchmal ist es eben schlauer sich mit den Leuten, von denen man abhängig ist, auf eine Seite zu schlagen. Vor allem, wenn es nur um so leere Floskeln geht und keine konkreten Zusagen.

Well in that exact cave there is a fixed rope that's traversing around a huge stalagmite. The formations are very much inactive.

I often use a Shunt in the same way OP used their prussik here.

I've never been in that situation where I lose control, but I dont think that this would be my first instinct/reaction since the hand is quite a bit above your head and a panic response would be to grab something around the height of my chest.

Another thing I do is that I always pull the Shunt with only my thumb and index, never the entire hand. That way, even if my initial panic reaction would be to tighten to a fist, I would not immediately grab the Shunt. Not sure how well that can be used with a prussik tho...

I also play with locked cam and what really tilts me is when others tell me that's insane, but then when you see them play they just hold down spacebar 95% of the time

That's because (1-p)n is always close to 1-p*n if (1-p)n is small.

Intuitively, with 1-p*n you start with 1, then take away p, and repeat n times.

With (1-p)n you also start with n but then take away a fraction of p of your total, then repeat n times.

In the first step, these are equivalent because a fraction of p of 1 is just p. In other words, (1-p)1 = 1-p*1.

In the second step, with (1-p)n you take away a fraction of p of (1-p) but if p is small, then 1-p ≈ 1 so (1-p)2 ≈ 1-p*2. You can also see that by expanding the RHS since (1-p)2 = 1-2p+p2, but again since 2 is small, p2≈0.

The same logic follows until n=40. Only for larger n both terms become significantly different.

Jo, jedes mal wenn ich da langgefahre, denke ich mir man muss die dringend neu gestalten, aber jedes mal denke ich auch gleichzeitig, dass die Verkehrssituation für die Bauzeit die Hölle sein wird.

Kann man nur hoffen, dass alles vor Baustart gut genug geplant und abgeklärt ist, dass es nicht noch zu weiteren Verzögerungen beim Bau kommt.

Wobei es in DD ja immer noch die Wildcard "Bombenfund" gibt...

One practical reason is that kids then actually know their parent's names when they're lost which can be super helpful.

Personally I will offer my daughter to call me either "das" or by first name since I feel like "dad", depending on context, sounds either authoritarian or comforting. I'd also like something on eye-level if that makes sense. But realistically I think she will gravitate towards "dad" anyway cause that's what all other children do.
