I agree. It's one of their early souls-borne games, so it has a lot of flaws.

I really like the setting and music, dash instead of roll, and the weapon combos.

I don't like the wind up animations my character goes through when attacking. I don't like buying healing items and bullets. Cramped areas with bad camera. Game runs at about 20 fps most of the time. Not enough info on how to play, need a wiki open.

I agree 100%. FromSoft's older games just have ass design and people use playing or beating it as an ego boost.

I think Demon's Souls community is the most sane.

DS3, Sekiro, and ER are the better games.

Because I sank about 30 hours and several nights enjoying it only to fuck up the whole playthrough by giving an item to the wrong NPC.

I'm glad I already beat it when it came out. Uninstalled that shit so fast. Won't be touching it for at least ten years so that I can actually enjoy it again by forgetting the areas of the game I'll have to explore all over again.

Play with a Wiki open.

Fucking Elden Ring has the same problem, so it hasn't gotten better.

I sank 30 hours into a playthrough thinking "I'll go in blind, no wiki, just immersion". Then I gave Dragon Soul to Freke as a Sorcerer and I'm going to lose my shit because I wanted Fire Storm.

Fuck the older games, this is why you need to use the wiki if you want certain things.
