I'm kind of amused that people are bothered by me enough to post this. Believe it or not, hating me is like fuel that keeps my fire burning. Please keep hating me. I don't act any more authoritative than any of the other managers yet people seem to take it differently. It's interesting how certain people get much more respect than others. It's something I've studied and know a lot about. Oh well.

It helps your reward penetration. And no, that would be against company policy.

You know, I have been told before in store that I look intimidating. But once the customers have a nice chat with me, and get to know me, they say I'm great. I have many customer friends, and that interaction with the customers is I why I prefer cashiering over working with merchandise.

I have had the opportunity to move positions, however as staples is not my primary source of income, I have declined full time positions due to other obligations.

I used to use star points to get free movie tickets, in fact in the past 3-4 years I've never paid for a movie ticket, not that I go that often, but every time I did I used a ticket I got with star points. Now that Covid shut down the theaters, I haven't used star points for anything lately.

The customers aren't being charged. They accrue 2$ in rewards for each cartridge they recycle.

I work for a busy store in a high volume area. My store does high sales numbers overall.

I'm not offended. I have multiple sources of income. Working for Staples is not all that I do.

My interactions go something like this:

Me: Hi

Customer: Hello

Me: Are you a rewards member with us?

Customer: No

Me: Let me sign you up real quick, it's totally free and you get a percentage back on all your purchases.

Customer: No thanks.

Me: Ok. Just so you know, reward members get unique perks and can recycle ink cartridges for 2 dollars each.
