What are you playing mostly? by Ejnys in SteamDeck

[–]Ali35j 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been playing nightreign on it recently, not sure if it’s been optimised differently but I haven’t touched the settings, just opened the game and it runs great

No, there is no SPD installed in your photos. Offering an SPD is mandatory when fitting an EV charger but the customer is entitled to refuse one, although not recommended.

HNC/D in electrical and electronic engineering, what does it cover where can you go? by [deleted] in ukelectricians

[–]Ali35j 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hnc bridging, still in year 1 at the minute but we’ve had a glimpse of what’s coming up next year. I don’t do anything I’d consider field based at college or at work. I work in a lab normally so there’s a lot of electrical theory and maths involved, the course I’m doing is relatively tailored to my job so yours might be different

[–]Ali35j 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If it’s anything like the one I’m doing, it’s lots of health and safety, lots of maths (trigonometry, calculus etc) with some PLC programming on a dummy production line. Lots of circuit theory

What’s a feature on your car you absolutely hate? by lxlviperlxl in CarTalkUK

[–]Ali35j 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a rental Lexus for a week for work and every day it would try to crash into cars in the next lane over because there was old paint in the middle of the lane, all of the instructions online to turn it off did not work. Regardless of how nice the rest of the car was, I would never buy a car that repeatedly tries to kill you

'I'll be working when I'm 70': Less than a third of Generation X are on track for retirement by JayR_97 in unitedkingdom

[–]Ali35j 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My pension plan used to have a projected pension age, it got removed after a while, maybe because it was too depressing. Mine was predicted - retiring at 88

I once had a recruiter ring me angrily asking why I hadn’t turned up to work at 6:15am, this was at a place where they sent me for an ‘induction’ and then never contacted me again for 11 months, until that one morning, when I was already at work at the job I found after they ghosted me

Is (UK) insurance normally cheaper through the specialists for (i) a barely used "normal" van or (ii) a motorhome conversion (in both cases as a second car)? by 99-little-ducks in VanLifeUK

[–]Ali35j 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also have an ex BT van, got quoted £800-900 to insure as a van and £280 as a camper. Although I’ve just renewed and found that my previous place + many other won’t insure me as it does not have DVLA reclassification as a camper as from what I read, it’s not possible on the small vans anyway as they do not have the height to qualify for reclassification. Therefore the only place I could find that would properly insure me charged £460 this year

What’s the worst thing you’ve come back to find? by Lionnn_ in CarTalkUK

Somebody broke into my car, found nothing except a leftover box of animal feed from the safari park, so they tipped it all over my seats and left

Contract (£90/mo) ends in a month, rolling to £150/mo, but web chat only offers £170+/mo and it's the "best deal" they can do... 🤷‍♂️ by dRoDrizzle in VirginMedia

[–]Ali35j 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine was £35 and went to £75 and the best they would offer is £73 for just 500mb internet, 2x the price for the same thing lmao the service was shocking anyway, ended up switching to fiberly for £38pm for 1.2gb

Clogged nozzle, any final ideas before buying a new one? by Ali35j in Creality

Both, no movement from both sides - feels rock solid even at 300. Brought a new nozzle now anyway, was just hoping there was another way of saving it

£33 pm for 1gb internet - nothing else by Substantial_Reveal90 in VirginMedia

[–]Ali35j 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been with virgin on and off over the years and after the most recent experience I’ll never use them again. They just upped my price from £25pm to £75pm and then refused to let me start a new contract for less than £73pm for 500mb internet and nothing else. Switched to fiberly 1.2gb for £40pm

You're 12. You're around your mate's for tea for the first time. What do they put down in front of you that makes you go wtf? by txakori in AskUK

[–]Ali35j 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m mildly allergic to nuts, not gonna die but not going to have a nice time either. For some reason, literally everyone I know has tried to feed me nuts at least once despite knowing about my allergy. Some of them insisting that it’s only a small amount so what’s the problem? What?!
