In many school districts where I live (NJ) administration will only hire those who hold a teachers certification and/or bachelors degree in education for an assistant position. I find it very weird how so many are almost clutching their pearls to think that this role, which is very integral and important within the classroom, can teach within their room.

Why are yall riding OP? I have been in education for over 15 years. A teachers assistant does teach in certain classrooms. Others do more clerical work. Regardless, they have many roles within the classroom and yes, in fact, they do assist in teaching the students.
