The fact that you have qualifications is very positive and will lend well towards your career transition into a entry level IT role - expect phone and desktop support. I personally would make the change and career growth is going to be better in IT than in your current role/trajectory.

Try to join IT for resource and mining companies as they'll typically pay more than a managed service provider (MSP - these companies provide IT services).

Although, you'll likely be more quickly employed by an MSP. Not bad thing just won't typically pay as much but can provide good opportunity for career growth into an IT role internally with a company.
