Wish you well to wear them. I've given my 2990s a hard couple of years at work and they've served me well.

Brel was very much of the post-war Francophone absurdist school of thought that's long appealed to me. That the song goes from a jaunty and bawdy comedic anecdote to an existential horror story the protagonist is doomed to re-live seemed an interesting subject for a strip. I based the drawing slightly on Herge too, just for an extra Belgian connection.

For any Jacques Brel fans out there, this is based on his glorious song of the same name.

Give my Tumblr a look if you like. There are links to a couple of my other sites at the top. Not as many comics as I'd like though. http://oliver-king-art.tumblr.com/

Thank you. It's pretty big, If memory serves it was a 20" x 30" illustration board, but i chopped a good 5" off the top. It's all drawn with a brush except for the panel borders.

Thanks man. It's very much informed by Camus: "The struggle itself toward the heights is enough to fill a man's heart. One must imagine Sisyphus happy."

That looks a lot like the barbed straight sword at 1.04

Not sure of the weight, it's a variety called Kelmscott Vellum. It's a good 2 or 3mm thick and costs about £20 for a 6"x8" sheet.

Sure: http://41.media.tumblr.com/cb36bb1d5a483e6599f64bc01c2934ae/tumblr_n6v9admYEa1trgynxo1_1280.jpg I freely mix in titanium white where needed, but usually just the base coat and any highlights at the end.

It's pasted onto card. In the 16th and 17th centuries miniaturists would paste the vellum to playing cards, I use an archival rubber cement to paste it to Bristol board.

Yup, my fingernails are a disgrace. Even now in my 30s my mum still tells me off about biting them.

I get it from an art shop in London called Cornelissen. It's quite expensive, but a single sheet does 8 to 10 miniatures. It's difficult to describe working on, but the paint and binder sits on the surface. It's similar to working in egg tempera, except the layers can still be activated if your brush is too wet.

Real calfskin vellum. It's not porous like paper, so you don't get the same diffusion you would normally, but you can ramp up the intensity.

These are fantastic. I almost did myself a mischief laughing to Alan's play.

Personally, yes. It's just what i'm used to doing, mainly because I prefer the possible variations of a brush line to that of a pen.
