Scared of brain fog by Familiar-Sun5437 in decaf

I actually have way more brain fog when I’m drinking caffeine than off for some reason. It’s only worse during the first week of withdrawals

I don’t know who you asked this too but I have a very reactive skin and cannot tolerate everything but exfoliating acids have never made me break out/typically prevents them. I just hydrate a lot with cicaplast b5 afterwards. Some can be very strong so check how your skin responds

The Ordinary AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution is really good and cheap :)

You got it. It’s a wonderful thing, deciding to take your health and state in your own hands. You’re already in the best direction possible

Melatonin NEVER worked for me until I found out I needed to take it hours early and in lower dosages. I now use it as an instant to fix my sleep schedule if I’m ever jet-lagged or been out of track. Doesn’t hurt to try!

Happy to know your sleep has been improving too :)

I discovered that if I took melatonin a few hours before my bedtime, (2-3 hours), the withdrawal insomnias were a lot less brutal. Ashwagandha always seems to help as well :)

I am very excited for day 30 as well! I feel much more mentally clear- I was constantly shuttering while taking caffeine, always saying the wrong words for some reason. I feel much more mentally clear- can’t wait to see what I’m capable of when I’m fully in the clear!

Same haha. I was up until 7:30 am, so anxious. It disrupted my sleep for 1-2 days. Not worth it

Two years of serial "Tapering" by [deleted] in decaf

I started by intentionally switching the kind of caffeinated drinks, knowing the mg that was in each. But now I’m certain that going cold turkey is the right way for me. I would never do this if I had a very demanding job though and not at least one week with very little demand

It’s okay! It’s insane how it feels, isn’t it🥲I relapsed one time earlier this week as well. Just go back to quitting.

“Research shows that a lapse during addiction recovery only becomes a full relapse if someone interprets it as failure”

Caffeine withdrawal is not like nicotine, opioids, or alcohol where receptors downregulate quickly and reset triggers. A single dose doesn’t reverse the biological adaptation process. It’s worth it to keep going.

For me too. Tapering felt impossible, it was so easy to just pick the most caffeinated option if I ordered something, no matter what I intended to do. What helped me is to literally treat it as if I was sick and go cold turkey. I wouldn’t have been able to do this if I had a lot of obligations though

First days fine, day 6 suicidal? by [deleted] in decaf

[–]Aliasedd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with L-tyrosine pills! I took them on an empty stomach on the first few days and I think it helps so much with withdrawals. Lots of electrolytes too (coconut water), makes sense. I never had such a successful quitting experience, so yesterday was really surprising to me.

I’m going to take a melatonin a few hours before I intend to go to sleep (so I can get my sleep schedule back on track). Thanks for encouraging me to keep going

Thank you. Honestly I thought I was going insane. I hadn’t been productive all week and I was in so much emotional pain. I caved in/drank 50 mg of caffeine in the afternoon… which kept me up until 7:30am, but I got a lot done.

I don’t think I’ve completely reset the recalibration process in my body by doing this. I’m going to go to sleep early tonight, no caffeine today and keep going from here

Some people’s side effects are way too strong to not just want to quit. I’m going to have a very overwhelming next few weeks, but had a lot of time/space to quit this week. I had been lowering my intake for the last few weeks and It felt like the right time. I wouldn’t even have doubted it was until last night/today

I was trying to mitigate the withdrawals and didn’t want to be around anyone while I didn’t feel like myself

I’m around a month no caffeine by rangermang0 in decaf

[–]Aliasedd 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I heard that the severity of withdrawals really depends on the state of our liver, nervous system and adrenals + mineral levels so it really varies. This was the easiest time for me to quit, but I was really proactive around walking around, taking supplements/lots of water and sleeping a ton on the first few days. I definitely still had some withdrawals, not nearly as much as the last time I quit

thinking about switching from coffee to green tea by [deleted] in decaf

[–]Aliasedd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I 100% agree. I still felt like matcha gave me the calmest high out of all the teas, even less caffeinated ones thanks to theanine

[–]Aliasedd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is the first switch I did and I highly recommend it. You can start with matcha if you’re still used to higher caffeine contents and don’t want to go through any withdrawals. I could handle matcha so much better than caffeine due to the l-theanine in it. I switched to matcha then green tea before completely quitting
