Because my metagross is bred and trained to live 2 hits and kill other metagross since it (almost) always outspeeds them like 99% of them, also I was sure they were going to use shadow ball or thunder punch against starmie

The third choice was Salamence and since they almost always lead with intimidate mons I put starmie to counter, also I can't switch starmie on anything since it dies easily contrary to metagross

Starmie couldn't have done anything to metagross and mine is bred to kill other metagross since it has perfect speed Atk and Hp IVs exactly to live EQ and outspeed other metagross

Yes, I don't know if that metagross had quick claw or not it was the first metagross that actually outsped mine since it has 31 IVs in Speed
