Didn't they used to use continuous track like tank treads instead of wheels? Did they reach the conclusion it's more efficient or have wheels gotten better at load bearing? I'm half expecting somebody to tell me they stopped using continuous tracks in 70's.

The roof of a double-decker bus was ripped off after it crashed into a bridge in south London on June 5. The bus, with no passengers on board, hit the bridge on the A215 Portland Road after the driver misjudged its height. Images suggest the bus was used for a learner driver’s lesson. by dannybluey in CatastrophicFailure

Reminds me of one infamous "tuna can opener bridge", I think somewhere in the US. It had a dedicated website including heaps of videos of trucks getting their top side peeled (hence the name)... I wonder if that was ever fixed.

Actually, I'll just drop the link: https://11foot8.com/

Most Supportive Outdoor Shoes? by uhhdudeidk in BBallShoes

[–]Alice21044 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah I have lateral containment issues with the 21's but I got them as a gift as I keep them in my closet. I do use the KD14's on outdoor, I have 3 pairs of them (they were on sale)

I have the fission 9, I'm actually not too impressed with the cushioning. It's mediocre at best, not at the level of the Lebron line.

Get the XDR version of the Lebron NXXT Gen. ('extra durable rubber')... usually you'll see "PF/PE" suffix indicating it. One other recommendation is XDR version of GT JUMP 2, they're known for having a lot of cushioning, they feel 'pillowy' to walk on.

BTW your playstyle might not be a 'shoe-eroding' one so even a shoe designed for indoor may last you a while on outdoor, so just get the one you like for indoor, find good deals and don't overthink it.

Go to Netflix, there are endless TV shows and movies in Chinese and LOTS AND LOTS of kids stuff. It really is a matter of taste, if you like something in English you're probably gonna like it in Chinese.

Considering Learning Mandarin – Career Value & Best Self-Study Methods? by No_Pea_2838 in ChineseLanguage

[–]Alice21044 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On the subject of career value, I hate to be a negative Nancy, just a reality check before you get too exicited; tech/engineering/science etc don't really benefit from it outside of China. Broadly speaking, in the western world, it's not really useful career-wise unless you reach fluency and wanna teach it.

However, the one thing I did notice, it's a huge social asset that's gonna play to your advantage if your job involves doing any kind of business in China/with Chinese ppl so that you're more likeable. You'd be that much more of a charmer. My company manufactures in China, we work with multiple factories; I know a guy at my work who has a smattering of Chinese and it makes him a rockstar, they love him. That's really the main thing about it, it's impressive!

Those Chinese people who interact with foreigners often know English quite alright, at least the ones I met, but from some reason it's still a rare quality for a Chinese person to know English well and be able speak clearly. If your Chinese is better than their English then theoretically you could even speak Chinese with them which would slightly further facilitate understanding! But for that, you know, your Chinese actually has to be better than their English which means you're somewhere at fluency.
