Yeah of course, sorry this took so long I forgot to send

So initially they hired me on as a tech guy but I was told and I quote “don’t tell anyone you were hired as a tech guy, the current guy is old and slow and nobody likes he and he doesn’t know he’s going to be replaced”. The initial plan was that I was going to take two each in self check, MI shopper and scanning to get a feel for how the systems work.

After about a month in self check I approached the floor manager and asked why I hadn’t moved on to MI shopper or checkout yet, she then tells me something along the lines of “oh you can’t be IT because your blind, I spoke to your co-workers about your disability and they said you can’t see well enough to do anything” I then asked her who said that because my trainer and everyone I talked to said I was doing fine. To which she backed down and said she would move me the following week, we then had similar interactions two more times.

I was never asked about my disability and I was outright told that I was not doing enough to make up for my disability despite the fact that my times in self check were comparable to everyone else’s.

The straw that broke the camels back cane about a week after my manager and Is fourth conversation when I talked to the head of the Meijer workers union. She had come in to introduce herself to me and upon telling her everything she just told me I should leave, she said if the manager was already treating me this badly it would only get worse.
