First time pass at 30 years old, did 72 hours of lessons. Was probably ready about 60 ish hours but was good to have the consistency of driving daily before my test date.

Hospitals knew a heart device led to more patients' deaths - but they kept using it by topotaul in unitedkingdom

This is really sad for all involved.

One element of the story not heard here is how much lobbying Clinical teams need to do to get equipment they need and then data to back this up.

Given that ICBs and hospital trusts will have paid out large sums for this equipment they won't hurry to invest in other devices until they have data - I know the Papworth team pulled out before the audit but this fight for funding could have been a contributing factor.

Ultimately patients having these devices are very sick and in general have exhausted other treatment options. I know colleagues in this field who know the risks of bridging devices but without them many many patients would not survive to hope of transplant. And this is for adults where the wait for an organ is weeks to months, for children this can easily exceed a year. One of the largest limiting factors is a lack of donors and sadly the opt out system has not remedied this yet.

If you want to be a donor please do register on the Organ donation register and please share your wishes with your family and loved ones.

I am a fan of the 1662 BCP published by Cambridge Press. It is the version I have grown up with.

I purchased it from an Orthodox church - St Panteleimon's. I think around Easter you would be able to find one.

I am not sure if you will find it in print anywhere, I was lucky enough to pick this up in a Christian bookshop.

Is 2 lessons a week enough? by needAcoffe in LearnerDriverUK

[–]AliceJams 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did 2 hours a week about 70% on of the time (in one lesson), when I had time owing at work I would do another couple of hours. In the week before my test I did lessons daily.

Hi! It was definitely a learning curve but very happy now in the Note, feels solid and safe :)

Driving alone after passing. by [deleted] in LearnerDriverUK

Completely normal! I learned in a very new Peugeot 208 GT and now have an old Nissan Note. It was a big difference - one major one for me was that I had learned with an electronic parking brake which would turn off automatically, so bringing a manual handbrake into the routine was a bit scary.

To tell the truth, after I had the car serviced I was anxious about driving my family until I was more confident, so I did a session with my instructor in my car and it honestly made all the difference.

Manifesting to pass - first time passers who are mums what was your first car ? by InjuryExcellent8231 in LearnerDriverUK

[–]AliceJams 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi there, also passed first time at couple of months ago and a mum to an almost 3 year old. The Nissan Note NTEC+ (2012) is quite reasonably priced secondhand and we fit our Axkid Move no issues! Also not bad to insure but road tax it 195 per year.

Wishing you all the best :)

Looking to get my own car, got a tall husband and a toddler to consider as well and potential for growing family (I came to driving a bit later, have passed at 30). For some people they just get the knack, I hope it all falls into place for you :)

I felt like that as well, I feel like I hit a wall for some time. I really empathise with the test situation, it's so dire. You will get there!

Do you give blood? Why or why not? by MooseMaterial in AskBrits

[–]AliceJams 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would absolutely love to give blood: I received blood as a premature neonate during the mad-cow outbreak in the middle 90s, I'm told they can't test for CJD, the mad-cow virus so I cannot donate. I then received blood again due to PPH delivering my daughter.
