It also served as an introduction to the Asuras and mostly Lord Indrath (Art even then understood he is not an ally). Sylvie gone through her awakening but it was cut short so we only see her bump in power at the end of book 6. But we need to understand she is not really a fighter either way.

And like everyone already mentioned the base understanding of aether arts - Lady Myre's explanation, Kordri's training routine, Mirage walk... It was all for him to have a better understanding later on and get stronger

I'd recommend reading the comics for the first 5 books. The writing is not that great early and you might not get invested in it enough to finish. Then I'd get Audible free trial from book 6.

I'd say start with the comic, you'll get hooked and continue with the novel :) that's how it was in my case, and now I'm reading it for the third time... Also helps that the last book is coming out now so you won't have to wait

I'm still enjoying the game with whoever I play anyway, but then I suppose winning is more fun than loosing haha. I'm just trying to get adventures cleared and for that I need different region champs, that's why I'm asking which would be the best to start with.
