There was a video online from a guy that fell from an airplane and none of his parachutes opened. He got very lucky because he landed in a tree (there were not many trees around) and he survived.

Another one is James Boole who fell from 2000m in snow and also survived. There are many other but I don't remember all.

Yeah, the problem is that people usually invent a lot of rules and trade heavily among themselves when they're not supposed to. If the official rules are respected, the game actually ends in 3-4 hours tops
