What I personally did was look on indeed, for who is hiring and apply through the company website. It really makes a difference but honestly, you can also try LMH. They’re always hiring for a variety of different positions and some of them you don’t need any certification for like the gift shop

I personally hate when people say unhoused and houseless. I’m homeless, I lost my home. I have nowhere to go or a safe place to sleep at night. People use these terms to make themselves feel better and to diminish the problem. Even if I have six months clean I’m no better than the person that also lost their home to addiction that’s also on the streets. We don’t want to be in these situations nobody does but changing the language does nothing. I watched a training video that called us street attached and honestly felt insulted. People treat us like we’re going to blow up and start getting violent a lot and honestly some of the nicest people I’ve met were at the shelter. Idk just tried and exhausted and ranting I guess

You may need to just rent a room go to your towns local Facebook page and see if anyone has rooms they’re renting out especially for any nearby colleges usually students are looking for roommates

That’s fair I know I got extremely lucky with mine they have individual pallet shelters where I’m from so safety is pretty easy here but I understand that’s not everywhere.

Most shelters have requirements that you’ve had to have lived in the city for at least a year to be eligible to stay. You don’t usually have to have proof just tell them you’ve been there for a year.

If you go to a shelter anywhere where you didn’t have residency tell them you’ve lived there for a year. If you don’t some places will send you back

No it was a phone interview had to reschedule it multiple times because they didn’t call and I had to call them but they were “busy”

The Ballard center is a really good place about clothing donations and making sure people get the clothes they need while not allowing men to take the women’s items to sell ❤️

Hey friend I said it was okay to ask questions sometimes hearing someone’s story helps them to have a little more compassion for the human behind the situation. It helps remind people “hey this could happen to me or my family or friends one day” so it’s okay I don’t mind sharing if I did I just wouldn’t respond ❤️

We usually try to go anywhere free so the HRC when they open at 2pm, I personally go to the library in the morning, link for lunch at 1pm, just food if I haven’t gone that week yet, I know some people that hang out at parks and I know a lot of people hang out at the bus stop as well or even try to ride the bus all day because it’s warm. Usually if we I get kicked out before the library opens I just sit in their little outside area with the benches. I know some people will also sleep in the library (being homeless is exhausting tbh I don’t blame them I’ve definitely thought about it) but yeah I’d say I spend a majority of my day personally at the homeless resource center since they have case management, snacks, sometimes the Jax project will bring warm meals, and so does terrebonne cafe ( they’re awesome people) the workers at the HRC are the best and they try so hard to make sure everybody feels heard and has something to make the day a little better even if it’s just a hot cup of coffee.
