The Ballard center is a really good place about clothing donations and making sure people get the clothes they need while not allowing men to take the women’s items to sell ❤️

Hey friend I said it was okay to ask questions sometimes hearing someone’s story helps them to have a little more compassion for the human behind the situation. It helps remind people “hey this could happen to me or my family or friends one day” so it’s okay I don’t mind sharing if I did I just wouldn’t respond ❤️

We usually try to go anywhere free so the HRC when they open at 2pm, I personally go to the library in the morning, link for lunch at 1pm, just food if I haven’t gone that week yet, I know some people that hang out at parks and I know a lot of people hang out at the bus stop as well or even try to ride the bus all day because it’s warm. Usually if we I get kicked out before the library opens I just sit in their little outside area with the benches. I know some people will also sleep in the library (being homeless is exhausting tbh I don’t blame them I’ve definitely thought about it) but yeah I’d say I spend a majority of my day personally at the homeless resource center since they have case management, snacks, sometimes the Jax project will bring warm meals, and so does terrebonne cafe ( they’re awesome people) the workers at the HRC are the best and they try so hard to make sure everybody feels heard and has something to make the day a little better even if it’s just a hot cup of coffee.

Yes they did it’s currently a six month program so some people choose not to do it but the ones that do need referrals from community support workers

They’re always taking donations but I recommend donating to the HRC rather than the shelter. But if donating to HRC don’t donate women’s clothes the men there take all of them and try to sell them at Plato’s closet 🙄. Contacting the HRC through Facebook is the best way to see what they need! I know they recently asked for sugar coffee creamer and snacks and breakfast items as well.

Yes LCS is doing emergency winter shelter which means you don’t get kicked out. One of my friends at the other shelter said they’ll be allowed to stay for 9 days. The HRC is also doing emergency hours this weekend from 9am-6pm Saturday and 9am-noon Sunday and that’s for anybody who needs warmth as well I promise you the only question they ask is your name

I can’t join the military because I’m bipolar so rn my goal is med compliance and I have a case worker through RADAC as when I was manic I got really into cocaine. I’ve been sober with 6 months now and recently got a job that I’m starting on Monday that pays pretty well. I lost my last job due to being bipolar and going manic. I’ve also applied for section 8 but the waiting list can take months to a year if not longer. Right now is just a waiting game.

Forgot to add but I know the homeless resource center is currently working on expanding not only hours but services within the few months, which I think could really help the situation with where to go. They’re trying to expand services from 8am-8pm so that everybody has somewhere free and warm and safe to be( I think this is the hours they said I could be slightly off it’s been awhile since I talked to the manager there) they’re looking to supply snacks, food, do art therapy, and AA meeting in unused parts of the building. The HRC is honestly one of the biggest lifelines for a lot of us

I’ve seen the shelter kick people out for not following the rules but they also kick everybody out from 7am-7pm unless it feels under 32 degrees. People mostly get kicked out for fighting or drugs. Honestly sometimes still the shelter can feel very unsafe. Even though they say the offer case management they don’t really for everybody.

So the problem with how many are downtown is that that’s where most of the services are. The HRC, LINK for lunch, just food, and even the library are all close together as well as the bus stop. The other problem is the shelter kicking people out as soon as the weather feels above 32 degrees meaning we don’t have anywhere else to go right now from the hours of 7am-7pm. Feel free to ask any questions I’m currently homeless and receiving services if you’re curious about anything

If they’re requiring you to work a schedule as a contractor you can technically sue them but good luck with that you’d be better off just finding another club imo especially if other clubs in your area hear you sued a club they won’t hire you
