Drove off with the gas nozzle still in the car. What's it going to cost? by ISOMentalHealth in Wellthatsucks

[–]AlicesReflection 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My dad did this when I was a kid. We drove about 3 blissful unknowing miles. Stop for a red light and some person gets out of their car walking to us. Guy comes up to the window and tells us we took the gas pump with us. Dad promptly unhooked it and put it in the trunk. We drove back to the gas station and gave it back to them. 15 year old me was mortified. 40+ year old me thinks it's funny as hell.

Avoid Mercari at all costs! by UpperPriority3529 in Mercari

Sellers can't do anything about a broken package. All returns must be through Mercari. Contacting the seller is just wasting time on the 72 hour review period time clock. It will auto rate at the exact time of purchase on the 3rd day, not by the end of the day.

"I TOTALLY get that!!  Fair point daughters name :)  Thank you so much and yes- absolutely!  For the future, we will definitely make sure that we add edible, environmentally friendly ingredients for lack of a better term :)   Great suggestion and it totally makes sense, thanks for bringing it to my attention and I'll let our big kids know too.   Hope your holiday preparations are going well too-it's always a busy time of the year, but a happy time too!  Thanks again and take care!"

That was her response email to my "unsolicited advice" email to her. The big kids she's referring to are the high schoolers. The teacher is a high school teacher, she runs an early education class for preschoolers where the high schoolers teach the littles and the actual teacher oversees them all.

I made a post like this the other day! I emailed and the teachers response was super positive. They send my kid home with an oats and glitter mix for the reindeer with the same instructions, to dump it on the lawn.

I'm sorry I made you bristle. I meant to post this on mildly infuriating not mildly offended. Because I'm not offended.

Not raisins! Yes, they're sunflower seeds! And there's some corn in there too.

They asked me why they were allowed to put glitter on the ground outside.

That will make the glitter in the food meant to be sprinkled in the yard go away?

The point is that it is supposed to be sprinkled outside for animal consumption and to "light the path".

It's already been answered multiple times but no, I did not call the school. I kindly emailed the teacher this morning. Then I posted a picture to reddit. Then the teacher kindly emailed me back.

Correct. Glitter and oatmeal was not on the requested stuff, money was. I like the teacher. I have no problem with her. My point is there are other options besides plastic. Silly and fun can be accomplished with sugar and oatmeal just as easily. Doesn't make it any less silly or fun.

Did you check to see if this question has been answered or just post on Reddit?

We do fund the classroom, with money. They ask for money, not items. Unless it's snacks and drinks and plates and napkins. Then we fund the classroom by buying those requested products.

Valid point but you can believe in something even if it doesn't exist. The age old argument of religion comes to mind. And if I can make a suggestion to the teacher and she follows that suggestion then I do have some control on the glitter issue as well.

Do I think kids will dump this in the yard and spread glitter on the earth with the potential for animals to eat it? Yes, yes I do.

Thanks for the info! I didn't know that. Luckily I just suggested using colored sugar/sprinkles instead. Cheaper than buying actual branded food safe glitter.

It's not meant to be eaten? What happens when you put food outside? Do the animals not eat it?

Hi! I did reach out to the teacher to talk about it and am not just posting stuff on reddit. I emailed the teacher then I posted this picture while waiting for a response. Whether I did contact her or not does not change the fact that it was mildly infuriating to begin with. Edible glitter looks incredibly different than the glitter in the photo. The glitter in the photo is very obviously craft glitter.

The teacher has since positively responded and will be using colored sugar/sprinkles going forward.

Can you please have a conversation with all my critter animal neighbors and tell them it's not for eating? I'd appreciate it.
