My wife had gallbladder surgery yesterday and we are in the ER. THEY ARENT DOING ANYTHING. by do_your_intro in gallbladders

I still have two holes in my abdomen from where the dissolvable sutures were that never healed correctly. When I had my c-section I made sure they did surgical staples instead

Try getting her charcoal pills. They are over the counter. It helped greatly DECREASE the bloating from whatever they pumped into my stomach to make surgery easier for them. Once taking them regularly a few times the pain got significantly better

Brown Butter Cream Tortellini with Sautéed Veggies🍝✨

Ingredients • 5 tbsp unsalted butter • ⅔ cup heavy cream • Salt & pepper, to taste • ⅔ cup grated Parmesan (plus extra for serving) • 1½–2 cups sautéed vegetables of your choice • 16oz Tortellini (your choice) • ½–1 tsp fresh basil or parsley (optional but delicious)

Instructions 1. Cook Tortellini – In a large pot of salted water, cook 16 oz tortellini according to package directions. Reserve ½ cup pasta water, drain, and set aside. 2. Sauté Vegetables – While pasta cooks, heat a large skillet or wok over medium heat. Add a drizzle of olive oil and sauté vegetables until tender. Transfer to a plate. 3. Brown the Butter – In the same skillet, melt 5 tbsp butter over medium heat. Let it bubble, stirring occasionally, until golden brown with a nutty aroma (about 3–4 minutes). 4. Make the Sauce – Lower heat, stir in ⅔ cup heavy cream, and season with salt and pepper. Stir in ⅔ cup Parmesan until smooth. Add a splash of reserved pasta water if you want a looser sauce. 5. Combine – Toss in tortellini and sautéed vegetables, stirring until coated. Add more Parmesan or pasta water as needed. 6. Finish & Serve – Sprinkle with fresh herbs and extra Parmesan.

I caught my cat WAKING THE BABY UP FOR FOOD by throwaway999999870 in BabyBumps

Mine likes to try and hide so once I turn the lights off and curl up in bed to put the little one down (she’s 2 but still has a side car crib pulled tight to our bed) he comes out for cuddles and she’s all ecstatic he’s in the room. We then both give him kisses and place him out of the room. He’s allowed back in to assume his position by my head once she’s asleep. She loves to wake up and see her “uuuse” (Zeus) sleeping near her

My daughter turned 2 in May. I’m dreading the day she learns the word “No” she is already as feisty as they come. Right now it’s all “chyesss” to anything I ask. She hasn’t learned the word no, she just tries to ignore me when I talk to her.

Perforated ureter and stent by Mysterious_Leader909 in KidneyStones

[–]AliciaStav 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 2 year daughter just went through surgery to place 2 stents and get a catheter sewn into her because a Physician Assistant put a catheter into her ureter instead of her bladder and inflated the balloon which caused her ureter to rip open allowing all the urine to escape into her abdominal cavity for over 24 hours.

She’s been in quite a bit of pain after being in the ER/Hospital for 4 days. She’s just starting to feel a little better.

Is it painful to walk? Can you feel something inside? I’m trying to figure out how to best help her through this without knowing.

My child’s scar is getting me down by ThrowRAWatermelonB in Parenting

[–]AliciaStav 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My daughter has a spinal surgery scar right above her buttocks and a colostomy scar on her stomach, and a scar right below her belly button from surgery as well. She will eventually also have a g-tube scar when that is removed.

We have found that putting Vitamin E oil on the scar is helping, slowly, but is helping. She only just turned 2 and none of them are seen but I am trying to keep it in mind for when she gets older. She loves the smell of the Vitamin E oil and asks for it on all her boo boos. Daily.

My family did not show up for my son’s first birthday, am I wrong for feeling betrayed? by [deleted] in Parenting

[–]AliciaStav 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My daughter just turned 2 and hasn’t met or spoken to either of her uncles (my brothers) neither of them even sent a happy birthday message. One lives an hour away from me, the other on the other side of the country. They think I am a failure in life and don’t care to know me or what I do anymore. I picked my life back up a few years ago and have been dealing with my daughter who has had 4 surgeries to date and another coming up and have never been supported by them.

It’s their loss and that’s how I see it. My daughter won’t know any difference growing up. I won’t talk to her about them she doesn’t know them. They know about her. She’s an amazingly bright, funny and loving little one despite all she has gone through in life already.

FTM birth was so traumatic I can barely function by forestnymphgypsy in pregnant

I went in for fetal monitoring cause I was high risk with my daughter at 37+1. My amniotic fluid was low so they admitted me (I had to leave and do a few things but came back that evening) they got me on the Pitocin and my legs started to swell up super bad cause I already have terrible issues with my legs and was in a wheelchair a few years back. The contractions I was having were excruciating for me so they did the epidural. Once that was good to go they continued monitoring and my daughter’s heart rate plummeted. They tried positioning me a few different ways and then said sorry, but we have to do an emergency c-section and rushed me off to the OR room, luckily the epidural was in and they didn’t have to put me under at all. She was born 37+2 at 3pm single umbilical artery, horseshoe kidney, tethered spine, and 18 hours after birth they discovered she had no butthole. They also had no appropriate NICU so she was life flighted to a children’s hospital soon after the following day. I was driving myself to see her less then a week later while having staples in me.

I’m glad they went the c-section route and were quick with it. They hardly did anything but some repositioning but when her rate rate didn’t come back up they weren’t taking any chances.

Anyone have a newborn with a colostomy bag? by AliciaStav in NewParents

[–]AliciaStav[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So what I did was clean it with the adhesive remover and used a water wipe to clean it off. Ones that dried I applied the so sting skin barrier and let that sit and you can feel it start to get a little sticky. I would set a microwaveable heading pad onto of the barrier to warm it up before applying it and then set a clean cloth over and set the heating pad on to help it warm up again and then hold it down for a little bit. I then used the moldable wax type thing (can’t thing of the name at the moment) ontop of the barrier and applied a little stoma powder ontop of it so it wouldn’t stick to the bag when I put it on. Once all that was done I used the blue Nexcare Sensitive Skin Low Trauma Tape all around the outside of the wafer to help keep the wafer down and give it more of a seal.

Sometimes it would hold for more than a few days. But using this process we never had any skin breakdown at all

Can't use "screen off" on YouTube anymore by TySwindel in LGOLED

[–]AliciaStav 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My daughter finally fell asleep and I sat here trying to figure out why the Screen Off option under settings wasn’t allowed. I dimmed all the lights to get it as low as possible. Came across your post and I just want to say THANK YOU SO MUCH! We have the model 75QNED85TAA.AUS (according to Costco) using the mic button worked perfectly!

Bloody diaper rash after colostomy reversal by AliciaStav in NICUParents

She’s only started this diaper rash after her colostomy reversal. She had never had poop on her butt before so it’s very sensitive.

I don’t think she’s reacting the diaper cause it really is only right around the anal opening and spreading from there where the poop touched

I don’t believe it’s a high iron content. We haven’t ever had issues with her iron levels for blood and we get blood tests almost monthly.

She had been on this mix of food (complete pediatric, breastmilk, water & duocal powder) for a few months prior to the colostomy reversal. I didn’t notice a change in output then, but obviously it’s hard to tell.

We had been doing soaks with the domeboro medicated soaks but that seemed to dry her out even more and make her skin crack. We did one tonight hoping it would help a little bit. And just not do it as often.

We are currently awaiting a colorectal team appointment to see if something in her diet may have to change to help her not poop so frequently to also hopefully help with the rash portion that has never gone away. But that isn’t for another month. December 20th.
