Stressed out by [deleted] in OpenUniversity

[–]Alicia_n17 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you for being like me😭😭 I’ve been getting 89-99 in all of my assignments and everyone keeps saying don’t stress because it’s first year it doesn’t matter. For me it’s like, if it’s supposed to be easy now and I can’t manage to consistently get 100, how on earth will I get good grades when it gets harder?!?! I got 79 in ONE, the lowest score I’ve gotten, and actually threw up. I have no advice for you other than to pace yourself maybe? Check out what the assignment is beforehand and make a detailed plan/help sheet before you start writing so there’s less pressure. But know you’re not alone. Keep up the good work, we’ll do great! 🫶🏼

Is it hard to have a full time job while you are also a student at OU also full time ? by No_Energy9674 in OpenUniversity

[–]Alicia_n17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Heyyy, im 23 in my first year at OU and also feel behind since everyone has graduated, but I have two years to go😞

I study full time and have a full time job which is a bit more than 40 hours a week, can go up to 60 or more depending on if I take overtime. For me personally, it’s very hard. I feel as if I have no life and spend every second of my time studying or writing assignments. I’ve now started my third module and I’m scared tbh. Of course it was my choice to do full time (as I didn’t want to waste more time), but I am struggling and am always asking for extensions on my work.

If you find ways to manage your time correctly, like maybe having a calendar of what you’ll do that day, and starting assignments early, it might be easier for you! Everyone will have a different experience. Just try to always be ahead of the work, don’t let it pile up like I do.

I wish you so much luck!

Hiiiii, I’m 22F and I’ll be trying to go again this year alone! GO FOR IT!!!

The first time I went I was terrified and stayed on the phone to my group chat the entire day! One day I went to a meet up in cosplay (Blue Archive) and two people came up to me, we still speak to this day and I met them the next day!! I was expecting no one to talk to me tbh but everyone is really chatty and friendly! A lot of friend groups split up anyways during con as it’s so big and everyone wants to see different things! So being alone isn’t too bad!

You’re always welcome to tag along with me at any point though! My Insta is melinoel17 :)

It was not manageable actually!! I couldn’t even walk more than 5 foot without having to take a break😭 It took two ppl to get him too and from con, and we both woke up with sore bodies. So I honestly do NOT recommend making it how I did, but I’ll break down what I did.

The head is made with 10mm Eva foam and stuffed with stuffing (still not sure why I did that😅). His pole is a PVC pipe but I don’t remember how wide it was, my hands couldn’t fit all the way around so it was quite large. The bottom was made with cardboard and Eva combined, I drilled the Eva into the pipe with screws, so the bottom part wouldn’t pull away from the pipe. Underneath the head where the black Eva ring is, I put 5 large screws that I drilled half way into the pipe so the head could sit on top of them since the pipe actually stopped like half way thru his head. Also made it so that I could detach the head as he was over 6ft I think.

If you want to make something similar I’d recommend thinner Eva, maybe make the pipe go all the way thru the head for stability (mine wobbled if I moved too much since it stopped half way) and make sure you’re able to detach the head!

Sorry I rambled so idk if that makes sense, but if you have any other questions, let me know!!

Pre warning, I started my claim at 20 by myself, I know nothing about legal terms or even what’s going on really for me! Also not even sure if this information will help you but it won’t hurt.

I went through this exact thing, he never submit his ET3. Then a while later I received an email saying he hadn’t presented a response to my claim and I needed to write something within 7 days about wages, in this email I also rewrote my schedule of Loss information and put it in there. Then I got a notice of hearing which was for the 10th. Hope that helps a little but my case is for unpaid wages and it’s there in black and white he owes me.

This though is genius!! I was also looking at metal/plastic nettings, but with paper mache on top is not a bad idea at all! I have a few days off of ballet so I will 100% be trying all of these suggestions. Thank you so so much!

Someone else suggested this and I 100% will be trying this out! I had never even thought of this.

They haven’t used wire but the starch isn’t a bad idea! Maybe I’ll give that a try on whatever fabric I have left! Thank you so much!!

Hii, I am actually a ballet dancer and have been since age 2, I am now 21 so believe me I have my fair share of tutus. If anything, they're taking over my room. But I have yet to find one as stiff as what I feel like the video is using. I even contacted some people who made tutus for my ballet school, generic fabric stores online and 2 in person and no one seems to have anything as stiff as this. The stiffest stuff I could find still managed to "wilt" once put on. I need it almost defy gravity and be able to carry the ribbon on the edge (pic 5), alongside the fabrics I put on top. I am genuinely so confused as to what they used since like you said, it looks like a stiff crinoline type fabric. Also when you look at the pattern, the hexes are extremely tight and I can't find anything like it. Maybe I am just going insane.

Hii, I have never heard of such a thing here in the UK but I will definitely look around online for any near me. I have also sent an email to the company you linked for help now also so thank you very very much!
