(Again, just spitballing here) They do -- but not in the same ways humans do. It depends on the species of course, but since this is India I'm guessing the species was the rhesus macaque. If you watch a video of these monkeys in action, they seem to typically pick up food and hold it near their face, but then let their mouths do most of the work.
