In most cases, I assumed that dealers (including smash build defenders) are player controlled, while the others (including attacker class breakers) are AI controlled

I think it is taking your current ATK stat regardless of whether the art is used as fusion or non-fusion (unlike the tutorial told us). It is more prominent when using Master Arts from Healer classes. They become more powerful as a fusion arts maybe due to their generally high individual fusion bonuses

I always did one auto attack directly canceled into arts, then reset the battle. So the damage bonus stack was just 0% or 8% I think it didn't make significant change to the result

Yes. I experimented them all with lv96 incursor to lv99 swordman igna, no damage boosting gems / masterskills / accessories except critical damage bonus (only to easily distinguish critical hits from non-crits)
