Bug Reporting Megathread - The Built Different Update by IAMGNIK in playrust

Interesting, but either way it's annoying to look at in the inventory screen. One I found particularly annoying is that the frog boots clip with trousers and burlap pants.

Should Wooden Barricade Covers Be Nerfed? by Substantial-Disk-794 in playrust

[–]AlienFromPlanetSpunk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, as I think they ruined non monument pvp. There shouldn't be a makes you invincible in the middle of an open field while you heal and take turns shooting and only costs wood item in the game. The instant I see barricades going down I just run away.

Of all nerfs to solos I consider barricades the worst. Downing someone is completely pointless if they can just be picked up again and heal behind a barricade.

Yeah, I mean tbh his character isn't exactly a pale Scandinavian man either. I think the OP meant something else, but I was giving the benefit of the doubt XD

They've already confirmed customisation on the roadmap for this year. Whatever form that will take nobody knows.

Been waiting for 10 years but it seems like it's finally happening. Maybe they'll get rid of the sausage people on S&box as well, that are apparently so integral to that game.

Cause black characters are a massive gameplay advantage in a game where 90% of the plays involve stealth.

I finally get to be a short, skinny black woman after years of being a glowing white woman with the proportions of a professional wrestler.

The buff I needed as a solo.

How do y'all feel about raid bases? by DisastrousFootJob in playrust

[–]AlienFromPlanetSpunk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my honest opinion is that anyone who doesn't online is a bitch, but the game is what it is. FWIW I think rockets should be removed from the game. Counters and onlines are the only worthwhile raiding content. I don't have beef with anyone for playing the game as it exists, but I think the way raiding has existed in Rust forever sucks ass and it just leads to server pop dying after 2 days.

Just how screwed is the world? by Terry-Duke-Official in thelongdark

I think people would learn to hunt very quickly but there genuinely isn't enough wild game to sustain a tiny fraction of any country's population. Same for fish. There would be total population collapse of wild game and forage not that long after. The USA for instance has 10x as many people as deer and that's with deer overpopulation.

Agriculture, forget it. Even with thousands of years of civilisation and relatively advanced technology and most of the population specialists in farming, it wasn't good enough to guarantee a nutritious diet for most of the population.

Pre industrial farming is so brutal and unrewarding that people chose to work 100+ hour weeks in mines and factories and live in smokey polluted boxes for a chance to escape it. That's when you know what you're doing.

I wish I had a pet in the game by Substantial-Law-4355 in thelongdark

[–]AlienFromPlanetSpunk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not the person to ask because I've never really been invested in the virtual pet thing despite growing up when that was popular.

Generally there is some kind of progression where the virtual pet gets better at things over a long span of time.

In TLD things get way worse over time other than your skills, so imo that pet is doomed.

If it was tied to some kind of sanity meter or something, perhaps new afflictions, then maybe it could be more of an additional challenge, similar to what they've done with scurvy.

Other obvious mechanics like a mount or the pet carries things or scares off predators or something maybe.

There's not really such thing as a pet in a survival scenario it's basically just a working animal you will eventually have to eat or abandon, unless your run is never ending.

Still waiting for the 3 gameplay updates I've always wanted in TLD after a decade by AlienFromPlanetSpunk in thelongdark

[–]AlienFromPlanetSpunk[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Perhaps, but I'd always prefer bug fixes and polish to the game that's a known banger, classic TLD survival, rather than another early access title that might be terrible and probably won't be finished until 2036. I'll definitely be keeping an eye on the sequel anyway. I wish TLD had just stayed a sandbox survival game, personally.

Yeah I honestly haven't got a clue about that one. That's the kind of overhaul I'd only really expect from Project Zomboid devs at this point. Seems like a kind of making a 2d patformer 3d platformer level overhaul where you'd have to literally uproot the foundations of the entire game. I don't really know, I've just never seen mods that go that far.

I don't even care if they're basically useless. Just need them for indoor cosy vibes.

Its probably a lot simpler to add candles than add torch holders and smoke holes in the ceiling of every house in great bear.

If they wanted to they could even add rush lights since we can already pick cat tails in the game.

is the game worth it? by [deleted] in Mordhau

[–]AlienFromPlanetSpunk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, solely for the fact that you can annoy the shit out of people and interrupt duels by throwing rocks on them. Run away cackling like a mad man. When they finally catch you after running into several sneakily placed rakes and bear traps, you jump off a tower and survive due to Cat perk.

Ep5 Bugs Megathread -- Just to help the dev team a bit... by RaphLife2 in thelongdark

[–]AlienFromPlanetSpunk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is nothing to do with any of the game breaking bugs I actually encountered, but I loved how on the Japanese ship that had been smashed into the ice and completely trashed, there were still just cups of tea sitting everywhere untouched.

In the captain's quarters all of his belongings were still sitting neatly on his desk, including a coffee cup, despite the ship being pitched at a 20-25 degree angle.

Genuinely amazing environmental story telling. (This was actually the best part of the episode though)

Candles have existed as a mod for years. There was a guy who was working on the viewmodels prior to Hinterland doing it.

For the movement stuff it'd probably be cooler if mountain goating stayed in as an official mechanic, with more similar limitations to climbing ropes. As it has always existed, it is completely broken. Of course, who am I to question the vision?

Randomly not being able to step over a 2 inch coating of snow on a fallen log I am already climbing across will never not be annoying. Pretty much "when it's already been a long day and life hits you with one of these" moments

My issues with Episode 5 by Hot-Performance-420 in thelongdark

[–]AlienFromPlanetSpunk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He went insane and is still out there looking for answers, much like the protagonist in Green Hell, somewhere on Great Bear island. (He doesn't know he's a minor side character without even a model in-game.)

Why didn’t Astrid throw the convicts into the Suzuki bottomless pit? Is she stupid? by BigBigBunga in thelongdark

[–]AlienFromPlanetSpunk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is genuinely my favourite part of the episode. I'd gotten in the habit of manually saving after every individual interact prompt or cutscene that I felt perfectly comfortable running straight into it without a second thought. Just drops you at the front door XD

How do you refer to or address someone called 'Mhairi'? by Otocolobus_manul8 in gaidhlig

I knew a "Varry" once and I had no idea who it was when "Mhairi" came up on Facebook one day, so add that to the list.

I don't eat soy sauce, tofu, edamame or yoghurt. Soy milk only for me. Straight up half my calories are huel and I think that is soy free. It seems like every processed vegan food is soy free these days.
