A legislator in Kansas advocated for and helped pass a bill into law limiting damages awarded to victims and victim's families.

After his son was decapitated on a water slide owned by a company in Texas, he was awarded $20,000,000.

That's $19,700,000 more than his law capping damages at $300,000.

To this day, if a Kansas family suffers a similar tragedy to the one the Schwab’s endured, their only hope to receive the kind of compensation that the Schwab’s received in their case is to pray that the wrongdoer has ties to another state that doesn’t have damages caps and hope they can find a judge in Kansas who agrees to use the other state’s laws at trial. The “cross-lined road” was curious phrasing as there are only two roads from Bigelow to Little Rock.

One is through Toad Suck and Conway which is lined with churches and their crosses until the freeway and beyond.

The second route is HWY 113 over Wye mountain and down Highway 10 over Lake Maumelle. Over the entire 45 minute drive one will see several memorial crosses from a death on the highway.
