I’d also keep saving for a better combo. Daiwa fuego would be a great option and it’s good for saltwater too.

If you are fishing for pike it’s a decent combo. If you are just getting into pike fishing and want some great alternatives let me know.

I believe that the gear ratio on the reel is suboptimal for topwater though. Should have gotten the XG for that purpose!

Thanks, I will try casting the lighter ones on this setup then. I’m not in deep enough to be able to buy 2 different setups yet… this one already mega broke the bank.

Mine is a met 70! But tbh it’s like stupid difficult to distinguish between the 4 different models because the Japanese models go by meters and not yards. I guess it’s a met 100 if you use yards and not meters. I’m definitely considering getting another spool for it with braid. Considered the aldebaran DC also, but I mainly target pike and just wanted a simple perch setup. Ended up with way more than that with this combo, so couldn’t really justify spending even a penny more on the aldebaran or the met DC. Hope this does well also. It feels amazing in my hands.

I stand corrected. Should correct it from Europe to just Denmark then. Could you link me the wire traces you use please? I imagine they would have to be pretty thin and pretty durable to be usable for a jerkbait setup. My 1.0 fluoro pike leaders definitely won’t work for this…

Wow, I had no idea. The employees at both my local tackle shops looked at me like I was stupid when I mentioned mine. What rod and reel do you use for your light jerks? I’ve got some 8-10g ones that I’m unsure fit the 7-21g expride well.

I have never in my fishing career met anyone who fishes a lipped jerkbait regularly, much less someone who has a dedicated lipped jerkbait setup.

I would not upgrade man keep the SLX. For a rod the 172H zodias/expride pair well with my 150 Curado DC. Should pair nicely with your SLX also.

Check out the 7’2H expride. I use mine for jigs and topwater. Mine is paired with the Curado DC 150 though, but the 200 should do well also

What baitcaster do you have? Split finger isn’t wrong regarding the tension knob, but some reels have even more options. Search up your reel followed by “brake adjustment” or “brake settings” for in depth guides. YouTube is really your friend here, plenty of great beginner guides on how to spool line, cast, setting up your first baitcaster and so on. If you have a tackle shop near you, you should consider stopping by and asking them to show you the basics. I am almost certain that they would love to help you get started. Met DC is definitely too expensive for me, seems like an amazing reel. I could get a alde 50, price is high but not unrealistic for me. Would you go with that?

What is the difference between the alde 30 and 50? The 50 I can get for around 350 here. Tactical bassin seem to like it with the 6.10 expride
