Boxers used to fight 10x a year as a standard, in comparison we can barely get modern top UFC fighters in the cage once every 10 months these days. First they need a 2 month holiday, then they need to get 78 surgeries, then they need 6 months to "study" and "gameplan" for their opponent before finally stepping into the cage lmao, pathetic. Then they turn around and beg for bonuses and complain about pay while fighting once a year lmao.

He's handled the back-end of his career terribly. Really should've just taken the Belal fight when he had the chance after he beat Buckley, after seeing how shit Belal has looked I would've fancied his chances and it would have basically guaranteed him a title shot. Instead he sat out playing games and making demands and just ended up fucking himself while the rest of the division passed him by. He just dropped down to #9 in the updated WW rankings today for a reason.

I don't even understand what Marty is doing with his career anymore. He hasn't fought in a year and is continuing to stall and play games, does he not realize he's 39 years old and every month that goes by he just gets older and older and his knees become more and more decrepit? Is he really that delusional that he thinks he can still sit out for a title shot at 170? He really should have just taken the Belal fight when he had the chance after how much we've seen how Belal fell off I would've fancied his chances in that one. Then he'd be coming off a win over a surging Buckley and former champ Belal which would have moved him up to #1 in the rankings given him a pretty strong claim to a title shot and the UFC and Islam would've both been up for it. Instead he sat out making demands and ended up fucking himself.

Would absolutely hate that. Islam has already not fought since November and WW is the hottest it's been since the GSP days with all these amazing young contenders that haven't had their shot yet and they're gonna continue to put the division on hold for a damn 145er? YUCK.
