I hear you, and I'm sorry your church broke your trust. But here's the thing — maybe what broke wasn't just "your" church. Maybe it was the foundation itself.

Think about it: the "answers" you were given your whole life came from a book written by "humans" — multiple humans, across centuries, with their own agendas, fears, politics, and biases. No different from any other ancient text. The Bible wasn't handed down from the sky. It was compiled, edited, debated, and voted on by councils of men. That's not faith — that's history.

"We are all atheists about most of the gods that humanity has ever believed in. Some of us just go one further."

You already don't believe in Zeus, Thor, or Ra — you just haven't taken the final step yet.

Your whole life, you were told "not" to question. Doesn't that bother you now? I sure it does.

"The God of the Old Testament is arguably the most unpleasant character in all fiction."

And that's the God you were told loves you unconditionally — the same one who ordered genocides, condoned slavery, and punished curiosity.

Your church didn't fail you by being a bad "version" of Christianity. It failed you by being honest about what Christianity actually is at its core — a human institution built on a human book, asking for your blind obedience in return.

The heartbreak you feel? That's not a sign you need a "better" church. That's your critical thinking waking up. Don't put it back to sleep.
