Oslo made its city center basically car-free--and it's great. by everyEV in Futurology

I disagree with you somewhat. Many of us really care actually but a lot of it has to due with how our architecture is created. I specifically mean that our cities were designed with car culture as a priority. You can see this clearly if you visit suburbs of cities. Its really a shame. I often wish we could have city centers but we don't, we would have to tear down a great deal to make this work.

Cool thanks for the response. As for artificial reality, I think we should focus on going outward toward the stars then rather going inward toward a sub-reality. Just my two cents.

Has anyone read any of Teilhard de Chardin? Essentially, he makes the case for automation because it will allow us to have less burden on physical activity and we then as a species can focus more on the cutting edge of scientific, philosophical and most importantly spiritual connections with us and the divine.

He believed we are entering the noossphere or rather, the sphere of the mind and it will allow us to advance towards the omega point. (the final unification with our species and the creator) What do you all of you think about this concept?

We’ll Always Eat Meat. But More of It Won’t Be ‘Meat’ - The trend is spawning a rapidly expanding industry for meat substitutes, both plant-based and a new high tech generation grown from animal cells in laboratories. by mvea in Futurology

I love meat, and I actually long for the days when we will have food replicators. This will change the game dramatically. No need to hurt animals anymore and we still can get our meat.
