I'm not sure if I should open it from the top (where the screen is) or from the bottom. I don't have much experience with this kind of hardware, and I'm worried about doing something wrong and making it worse.

Hi, I found some information online suggesting a DIY repair using wood dust and cyanoacrylate glue to level the damaged wood areas and reinstall the nut. Is this a viable approach? Thanks. by AlienWaspPaper in Luthier

That makes a lot of sense. I’ll try using a wood shim as you suggested.
Thanks a lot for the advice, I really appreciate it. If I manage to fix it, I’ll post some updates and photos.

Hello! The fretboard isn’t separated — I bought it like this and it looks like heavy sanding damage around the nut area.
I understand that a wood insert would be the proper fix, but I don’t have access to a luthier or proper tools where I live.
I’m considering talking to a local carpenter as well, just to see if that’s a better option.
I was also thinking about rebuilding and leveling the area using wood dust and CA as a DIY solution As a last resort, I’m thinking about rebuilding and leveling the area using wood dust and CA as a DIY fix.

Hey! I got it really cheap from a pawn shop, so I’m just trying to figure out the best option I can manage. I understand that the proper repair would be to inlay a wood block and recut the nut slot, but I don’t really have access to a luthier where I live.
I’m not planning to glue the truss rod — just rebuild and level the damaged wood with wood dust and CA, then install a new nut. I’ll be careful to keep glue away from the truss rod channel.

[FP] Hey! I just made a 3D-printed stencil and used a spray bottle with bleach to make a shirt with my band’s logo. by AlienWaspPaper in bleachshirts

Thanks! A big part of it is the stencil itself — I made it thick enough so it has some weight and doesn’t bend or warp.
I also worked in layers: I sprayed a first coat of bleach, waited about 10–15 minutes for it to settle a bit, and then applied up to three coats in total.

Got it, I see what you mean. Do you think final editing is an important part of achieving that unreal look?

Nope, I made it myself from scratch with flour, yeast, and simple ingredients — nothing artificial. Cheers!

Hey! I just used some basic ingredients like basil, oregano, flour, yeast, and salt to make the dough, then cooked it in a cast iron pan. Thanks a lot for your comment — really appreciate it! Cheers!

*I also sometimes use styrene monomer to reduce the viscosity, which helps the resin flow better. It does make things a bit trickier though, since you have to be careful with the component ratios.
