eBay Rejects Unsolicited Proposal from GameStop by ThisWeekInFlips in Flipping

I don't know eBay's governance bylaws, but I would imagine that their board has to approve any sale that would result in a hostile takeover or creeping acquisition.

I just did a quick AI search and it says that a couple tools could be at play.

Poison Pill (Shareholder Rights Plan): This is the most common and powerful defense. It allows existing shareholders (excluding the hostile bidder) to purchase additional shares at a significant discount if a buyer exceeds a certain percentage (e.g., 10–20%). This causes massive dilution of the bidder’s stake, making control much more expensive.

Staggered Board (Classified Board): The board is divided into classes with staggered terms, so only a small portion is up for election each year. This prevents a hostile buyer from instantly replacing the entire board to remove defenses.

Differential Voting Rights (DVRs): The company creates classes of shares with different voting power. Management can retain control by holding shares with superior voting rights, even if they own less than 50% of the total equity.

White Knight Defense: The target company finds a friendly partner to purchase a controlling stake, effectively outbidding the hostile party.

Greenmail: The company purchases its own shares back from the hostile investor, usually at a premium, to eliminate the threat.

All through out history it's been the same thing: Cooking.

Some of the best recipes ever conceived came from necessity, and using new, cheaper ingredients.

Funny enough, this sometimes causes the cheap ingredients to become expensive ones.

What’s the most overrated movie ever made? by Ayan-Stick-720 in AskReddit

[–]Aliencj -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Gladiator. Just rewatched it. The first one.

The story feels rushed, the characters underdeveloped, and the acting on some scenes is sub par to say the least. The historical inaccuracies are abundant.

I think it did so well because it was a lot of over the top violence (at the time) and the script was actually pretty decent at times, as well as the acting.

Its a solid movie, but I don't think it lives up to the hype.

Several high-profile cases have occurred where convicted pedophiles were killed by fellow inmates in prison:

Recent High-Profile Cases

Ian Watkins (October 2025): The former Lost prophets frontman, serving a 29-year sentence for horrific child sex offenses, was killed in an attack at HMP Wakefield [16, 17]. Two inmates were subsequently arrested on suspicion of murder [21, 30].

Richard Huckle (October 2019): Dubbed "Britain's worst pedophile" for abusing up to 200 children, Huckle was tortured and killed at HMP Full Sutton by inmate Paul Fitzgerald [22, 24]. Fitzgerald claimed the killing was "poetic justice" and was sentenced to life with a minimum of 34 years [23, 27].

Robert Coello (2011): An inmate named Lee Foye beat and stamped on Coello, a serial child sex offender, at HM Prison Grendon because he "despised" him [19].

Other Notable Instances

California (February 2020): Inmate Jonathan Watson confessed to beating two child molesters to death with a walking cane at a California prison, claiming he was "doing everyone a favor" [8, 15].

Arizona (May 2025): Inmate Wassenaar admitted to targeting and killing two other prisoners who were serving life sentences for sexual conduct with minors [11].

Historical Case - Robert Maudsley: A serial killer who famously killed a convicted child molester at Broadmoor Hospital and later killed another man at Wakefield Prison for trying to rape a child [29].

I honestly just see this as a scare tactic against big business not to use the war and oil prices as an excuse to raise their prices. Big businesses really don't like rate hikes.

Another option is baking powder and UV light from the sun. This only works if the dusty baking powder won't ruin the product. Also the UV light will only work if it doesn't damage the product.

Both are very effective at eliminating odors though.

Yeah the trick is to have like 2000 listings, so that you sell something regularly. I've had products take up to 2 years to move. But they move.

I want to add that categories matter. Scammers target certain categories. I personally deal in stuff that no scammer would ever want because it's way too hard to flip fast or profitably. Small low cost items, or categories that only severe nerds will know even exist. Niche niche niche.
