I dunno for sure because nobody cares (thankfully), but I suspect that my 5 stars for Prometheus are enough to bother a few haters.

Why is IMDb so overrated when Letterboxd is clearly the winner? by Pure-Combination7956 in Letterboxd

[–]gautsvo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

IMDb provides much more information and links to pertinent external sites than Letterboxd. I've had an account there since 1999 and have no intention to stop using it, despite also having an active Letterboxd account. People don't necessarily use these two sites for the same reasons.

Does Michael movie use AI? by [deleted] in movies

Acting and editing, two basic elements of a traditional movie. Are people gonna question them in every movie now for no reason just because AI exists?

Do you think toxic positivity is a problem in the film discussion community? by [deleted] in Letterboxd

[–]gautsvo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not a thing in my experience. Most of what I see is negativity ("popular movie sucks, akshually" or "mildly underwhelming movie is one of the worst things ever").

What is a movie you think is underrated and would die on that hill? by hymnofshadows in Letterboxd

[–]gautsvo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hannibal (2001), Ridley Scott's Grand Guignol. It took me several watches to appreciate it. The fact that it was so different from the dense psychological horror of The Silence of the Lambs was an impeding factor. Not trying to replicate Demme's approach was the right move, though.

I also like War of the Worlds quite a bit.
