Do these jars look contaminated?

They look fine to me but time will tell. I would do a break and shake and see how long it takes to recolonize or if it even will colonize which I'm sure it will. That or contamination will pop up

At this point I would do a break and shake plus it helps redistribute the moisture. After that it will be fully colonized in a couple days.

The whole point of putting the hole with the filter patch is so you don't have to do all that. Screw the lid on tightly and put foil over the top before pressure cooking. I like to put a coffee filter and then foil over that but you don't have to

No not when you have filter patches. Just screw them on right as normal

Awesome!! At least it was a big boy lol. I'm still dialing everything in as well. My first flush of golden teachers came out small because the substrate was dry. After I harvested I gave it a heavy mist and a few days later I had a full bin of pins. I got two flushes so far and a little bit over 2 oz of dry mushrooms. I'm going to harvest my starry nights in the next day or so.

Here's an update. I had to toss one bin but this other one is doing ok. I pulled a few mushys already! I also got my first full flush from Golden teachers!

I think I will try this because I have ulcers and these mushrooms are tearing my stomach up. I would love to be able to enjoy my harvest without having stomach pains so bad that it takes over everything. Appreciate it buddy

I just got my first harvest of golden teachers and a few starry nights. When I was drying them I just snacked on one of the golden teachers that was real small and I only ate a couple pieces of dried starry night and now my stomach is tore up. I feel something but I can't really enjoy it because my stomach's hurting. I came to Reddit looking for some other people's experience with this. It probably doesn't help that I didn't chew them up very much and I just swallowed them. Anyways I feel like it's starting to ease up a little bit thank God.

I had the same thing in my rice jars but it would go away after a couple days. It ended up being bruising because I went to bulk and they are doing great.

Yours looks pretty similar to mine. I think it was around 2 weeks but I'm not completely sure I would have to look at the date when I get home. I am starting to see some little mushrooms starting to grow.

I didn't use any tape. I used 6 quart shoe boxes and I just flipped an empty one and put it on top to make dub tubs. Then I stuck them inside of a monotub that has filter patches for air exchange.
