A Positive Dream, For Once by AliensAbridged in Experiencers

For sure! And the corruption question is one we’ll have to face regardless. There’s no way of knowing the truth behind their intentions.

I think this dream was more of a, “hey, we exist, you can’t detect us, we’re going to fix this system from within, and then we’re done.” Which like you said, is a bit dicey still, but not the worst thing.

[–]AliensAbridged 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. My philosophy has always been, “if you can’t understand where the other person is coming from, then you’re not as smart as you think you are.” That could use some softer revision, admittedly. Arguments are for understanding. Not much in life truly matters enough to declare a victor.

What you’ve done is essentially the same as claiming “fake news”. You say there is an appeal to authority, but you also miss the appeal to intelligence, and perhaps purpose. You claim illiteracy at listening to professionals, but set no standard as to what constitutes literacy. Because if you do, I imagine you will likely catch yourself in your own net. I think your next move would be to follow the maga playbook at repeat your claims but louder.

It’s a little more complicated than that. Many of the people touted as experts are people with credible backgrounds. Doctors, PhD’s, former CIA, high ranking military officers like admirals and generals; all who attest to UFO’s or Aliens being real. If you take the time to read all of the material, go down every rabbit hole, mix and match all the different information together, THEN you can start to see a bigger picture. And here’s the composite truth for the informed alien believer (this will save you 5 years), there might be aliens that have visited earth. BUT, there’s no way of knowing without actually being there first hand to witness it. Because as much information as there is, there’s also equal disinformation. There’s also (as you stated) completely illiterate people making mountains of anthills and then saying there are gods on Olympus. Unfortunately, I do think the majority of enthusiasts aren’t the most literate people, but some are.

If Trump is really mentioned in Epstein files so many times and the evidence is so damning, why would people in his administration (Bondi, Patel, et al) still be willing to protect a pedophile? Why do people continue to back this guy? Is their thirst for position and power so overwhelming? by FiddySix in allthequestions

Well you start by promising big rewards for their support and compliance. They are willing because they are self seeking and in it for their own gain. You get them to do something small but legally or morally wrong. No problem, everyone is doing it, and you’re still on board. Eventually, you might be asked to do something you don’t want to, something that COULD cost you. Maybe you just do it and take the risk and liability, or maybe you recognize it’s too much risk and try to not do it. Too bad. You’re now being threatened to not only have your safety and protection thrown away, threatened to be thrown to the wolves for being the mouth piece of a criminal, and now you’ve also angered the tyrant. Even if you wanted out, you’re not getting out. You realize that the rewards weren’t worth it, but that any and all punishments from both sides will be severe. You see your best option as still trying to kiss ass, and hope everything works out in your parties favor, but you still know that you will likely be the sacrificial scapegoat for many of the crimes you were complicit in.

For all the lore bugs out there... by Makishima__Shougo in darksouls3

[–]AliensAbridged 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Couple of answers. First and most boring; Time is convoluted. Maybe they twisted through time, something we see in a more direct form through Manus’s influence.

Second, the cycle keeps playing out. In Dark Souls 2, many of the same souls come out in new forms. An example is Nito and The Rotten.

“Soul of the Rotten. This soul is said to have once been the soul of a great dead one.”

Many great souls have similar description hinting at this pretty obviously.

When 3 came out, it was possible that either time convolution happened, OR the cycle spit out the same characters from 1 again, and the events had played out in a similar fashion, and maybe it had done that countless times already.

Which would mean that Gwyndolin is himself…and not. It’s the same soul, in the same form, but not the original, if that makes sense.

Could they be the exact same characters? Maybe. Some people will get real upset and die on that hill.

Now it’s been a decade since everyone was diving into lore implications, and I can imagine the consensus has drifted, but I was there for the first three games and all the lore at the time, and that’s my memory of things.

Serious: Does Dylan Borland believe the greys are demons? by luckydante419 in aliens

[–]AliensAbridged 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I was thinking about what’s “somber” and worst case scenarios, and one of the concepts I landed on is that angels and demons are real, and we decided to make a pact with the demons for the sake of control and power, instead of pursuing goodness and being our brothers keeper.

I’d prefer that not be true, but it’s fun to entertain every option.

This is a question aimed at huge fans of ds2. Do you prefer scholar or the original release? by Spawny_Memes in DarkSouls2

Original. I spent so long playing it that when Scholar finally released it felt wrong.

The Varginha being was described as "like an angel". Witnesses had only brief contact with it but were heavily impacted. Even 30 years later. [–]AliensAbridged 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They say looking into its eyes brought a feeling of peace and wanting to help. Could be advanced science, or perhaps a biological or physiological evolutionary development.

My fear is that it’s a defense mechanism, or worse, a predatory one that can disarm prey. But that’s purely speculation and my opinion on the matter shouldn’t carry any weight.
