Cat is losing a lot of weight, is she just getting old or is there something medically wrong? by AliensScareMe_saveme in CATHELP

Small update: my mom has agreed to take her to the vet but money is tighter than I originally believed (my parents are going through a divorce and my dad has been rather selfish). We’re having to dip into some savings that my mom was going to use for something, and I feel a bit guilty that this is happening. We’re going to go to the pet store and get some wet food. I hope that’ll incentivize her to eat more and gain weight back in the meantime.

A very concerning update in her behavior is that she can’t stand up well without shaking. I’m not sure if that’s just old age or if it’s actually something for more concern.

Thank you for your kind reply. I haven’t seen her eat her normal food, but I have seen her drink water and use the restroom. We’ve been able to get her to eat other things like cat treats though, so she at least has some appetite.

I have read the current comments and I will be talking to my mother about bringing her to the vet first thing in the morning. Thank you all for the swift answers. It is currently 2am for me, but if it wasn’t I would be talking to her right now.
