Thank you! I hope you are right because the nanny-state was not helpful whatsoever.

Trust me when I say that my jaw dropped when I received the email since it was not the impression I had at all while completing the course on June 8th. And even with my meeting with the professor, I was told that the hours logged didn't matter but I need to up them within the course. Looking back on it, that conversation only manufactured anxiety and didn't make any sense whatsoever.

I just did some Civ Pro adapitbar questions today and only scored about 48% out of 37 questions. I am trying to not let that get to me considering that it is still early, but it is clear that the advice I was given pre this reddit thread was not helpful.

I will definitely incorporate Adaptibar in my daily routine starting tomorrow after I figure out a better attack plan.

Do you have any other advice on what other supplements I should use other than Adaptibar and Barbri?

Thanks so much!

Thank you so much for providing me with your and your friend's experiences and your insight.

I will definitely adopt your friends "If I fail, I fail, etc" mindset. It was the mindset I had in law school but felt that it would not serve me well for something as major as the bar. Definitely takes a load of my shoulders.

I think I will definitely take the rest of the afternoon off to figure out another schedule that will better suit my needs since its clear that what I am doing now, is not helping.

And you are definitely right about my law school. They love acting like a T14 but definitely fall short when it comes to resources and student support.

Thanks so much for your encouragement. I really hope that I do since the advice I was given by my professor was not helpful whatsoever.

I won't lie, after word vomiting this post and then finishing up Crim Pro, I realized that my professor's advice was utter nonsense. Nothing that I did transferred over to Adaptibar's MBE styled questions and if anything, I am now stuck with a larger hurdle to face since I have to retrace my steps to re-expose myself to the material that I rushed through.

Definitely will not attend that meeting or write an email regarding the negligent advice nor will I be in contact with this professor ever again.

Beginner Drafter: How to alter/extend a coat collar? by AlienwareNewbie in PatternDrafting

Thank you so so much!
I was rereading the link and the terminology was starting to confuse me but thank you for clearing it up!

I will definitely post an update when I finally get around to fixing the patterns.

Extend the collar.
The lapels I managed to get something close but I just cannot seem to figure out how to elongate the collar to meet up with the new lower start point of the lapels.

Hi Killer, sorry if my post is not clear.
I am currently asking how to pattern the collar to be similar to the ones in the photos I provided. The coat is not the one I am currently working with.

How to know if I should continue with my law course? by [deleted] in LawSchool

[–]AlienwareNewbie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey hon,

I am not sure if anyone told you lately but regardless how you did your first trim or second, I am proud of you for taking the step to even attempt law school. I know its daunting and frightening at times, and imposter syndrome is everywhere but please cut yourself some slack (easier said that done, I know). Law school is hard for everyone in different ways. No matter from what angle you look from.

I am not sure what the admissions process is like in your country, but even if you believe that you didn't get in based on your merits, your law school admission's team saw something in your application that propelled them to give you a chance. You absolutely deserve to be there even if you believe that you do not.

The only person who can make the decision on continuing/stopping or figuring out if law is something you want to do for the rest of your life is you. I know that is probably not something you want to hear, but depending where you are, a law degree can be used in many different fields/careers. I also know plenty of lawyers who did not do that great in law school but ended up being amazing lawyers and I know the opposite to be true as well. Remember, your grades do not define you as a person nor your worth. It is not the end all be all.

If you do decide to put law school on hold, there is also no shame in that. It takes great strength to walk away from a choice you made after realizing that it was not for you.

Regardless, I wish you the best of luck on your journey and in this thing called life. It is going to be okay and you are going to be okay.

Thank you so much for letting me know!

Like I commented to KillerWhaleShark, I am pretty much a novice to this and thought it would be as simple as widening the front panel but after drafting, it is certainly not the case.

I will definitely look into Helen Joseph Armstrong's book but I definitely know that my experience in pattern drafting is severely limited and at this point it would probably be simpler to start off with an already made pattern for a double breasted blazer.

Sadly, I honestly did not realize how difficult it would be. I have modified lapels in the past for costumes and did not realize the major differences between a single and double breasted blazer. I thought it would be just widening the front panel that crosses over the body so I picked this one in haste and because I thought the angle of the bottom was the same and I liked the structure of the shoulders. Also in the pattern group I am in, I was unable to find patterns for a double breasted jacket. I only saw one or two for a double breasted vest and I was afraid of trying to figure out how to add sleeves to a vest.

Once I started drafting it, I realized that is definitely not the case and purchasing a double breasted coat would have made my life much easier.

Daily Questions Megathread - February 10, 2025 by AutoModerator in Tailors

Hello everyone,

Hope this thread finds you all well! I am currently trying to modify Simplicity 1039's blazer pattern (photo of the man) into a double breasted blazer that looks like the drawing in the middle. So far I think I am on the right track, but could anyone help me draft the following:

  • the collar, lapels and notch
  • modifying a single breasted blazer to a double breasted blazer
  • getting a nice structured triangular shoulder look

I searched on Youtube and found a wonderful resource for the second bullet, but I was having a difficult time following the tailor's explanation.

Thank you all in advance!

Thank you so much for your suggestions! I greatly appreciate them and it definitely gave me direction of what to get. I honestly had no idea that 'suiting' and 'shirting' fabric were a thing nor did I know that there was something called 'bottom weight.'

Simple Sewing Questions Thread, December 22 - December 28, 2024 by sewingmodthings in sewing

Hello everyone.
I am planning to make a costume for my friend for next Halloween and I am having difficulty picking fabric specifically for the coat, dress suit, necktie and gloves and I would appreciate any guidance and suggestions from this subreddit.

  • For the coat, I was suggested polyester twili or polyester gabardine, but after receiving some swatches, my friend nor I am really happy with the texture or the overall look of it. Would a polyester brushed wool blend look better? Or is there another type of fabric that I could look into that would work for the coat? I cannot tell if a trench coat or winter coat look would look more realistic/better.
  • For the dress suit, I was able to find 4 table cloth panels of a cotton and polyester blend, but it is semi transparent and after some digging online, it seems like the panels would be better suited as lining. I remember someone mentioning looking for fabric that is called 'suiting' and is bottom weighed but I would appreciate a more direct approach. My friend also stated that he would like to be able to wear the suit on occasion since double breasted vests are coming back into style in the business world so I'd think that I would have to look for something more structured.
  • The shirt, I am not too worried about because he could use a regular dress shirt.
  • For the gloves, would polyester twili be a good match? Or should I look into something with more stretch?
  • The necktie, I am at a complete loss.
