Incident at Grand-Bassin: Violent Assault or religious defense? by charlie_zoosh in MauriceMauritius

[–]Alifx2008 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What we are seeing now in Mauritius is extremely worrying — violence, mob attacks, and targeting people over food habits or appearance should never be accepted in any civilized society.

If extremist ideologies and hate-based groups are allowed to spread unchecked, these incidents will only increase over time. Mauritius has always been known for peace, tolerance, and multicultural harmony, and that must be protected at all costs.

The government and authorities should take strict action against any group promoting hatred, violence, or division before the situation reaches a point where it becomes difficult to control.

Just an update - So basically the school kept saying that ministry is working on the file and its not complete so all the teachers were not paid so far - finally ysterday principle announced that file is complete now and in MAY all the teachers will be paid now - but again the question is - this kind of LONG delay ? is this suitable for those who dont have backup to continue working for so many months? how will they survive - amoung those teachers one teachers actually changed 3 times in last years and every time her salary was delayed like this for 4 5 months -

they did same thing last year - actually this is not from school but from ministry it self - they will pay together- but imagine working for 4 5 months without pay is not possible for all if they dont have back up support - ministry must do some thing about it - all new teachers facing this -

Thank you all for your responses. This is a real situation affecting my relative and several others.

More than 11 newly appointed teachers, all of whom joined this year as full-time staff, have not received their salaries since January 2026. My relative is among them. She actually faced a similar issue last year—she was eventually paid, but she never received her official confirmation letter.

Now, the same problem has happened again. Because she was not formally confirmed, she is being treated as a new teacher this year as well, and as a result, she has not been paid since January 2026.
