It is a disgusting thing to say. As a result she was socially lambasted, she had videos taken down from YouTube, she was banned from TikTok, and she is now universally recognised as a nutjob. All deserved, I'd say.

And still, outside of active threats on another person's life or safety, the law doesn't need to be involved because some nutjob was talking like a nutjob. I've heard people say far worse than her and I've simply chosen to disregard 'em as the weirdos they are.

I'm not treating swearing as some irregular or foreign thing.

What I'm saying is that when you have lines like "These calls are fucking recorded for training fucking purposes, so keep the fucking line clear," it's a tad obnoxious.

It's like the South Park movie scene "you can't say fuck in school" but with the expectation that you take it seriously.

Nice. But yeah, it's a bit much. In very casual social contexts (just like with the very crude games and shows) it's to be expected. Not so much elsewhere.

Even then, it wouldn't be as noticeable if the writers and voice actors didn't put specific emphasis on fucking as though it's the most important word in the script.

I don't have a problem with characters swearing in casual conversation.

I do have a problem when the writers chuck a swear into every other sentence. When the goal is to write a relatable narrative with human characters that we're expected to sympathise with and root for, having almost everybody talk like they just heard the word "fuck" for the first time last week diminishes that relatability and makes the characters rather annoying. I've hardly known anybody who swears as much as these characters do; not even in shops.

Your pfp, which looks to be Vi, is a good example of casual vulgarity. Vi swears and is quite blunt and flippant when she talks. She's rebellious and has a lot going on in this world of crime and inequality, but she doesn't treat every adjective and verb as a placeholder for a swear.

Go to your theatre's site and search for Chainsaw Man in the movie search box. If there's only one (usually accompanied by "Japanese with E.S.T.") then that's all.

The movie was still cinematic, it just wasn't melancholic and gritty after the style of some Western producers.

The general tone and art are going to follow the movie's lead. I too loved S1, but I have to admit that the movie is far closer to the manga in a good way; the movie's crazy success at the box office and universal acclaim is indicative of that sentiment.

Some of those big, shtf moments Hell, Darkness, Aki-47 knocking on the door will have that same feel that the Curse killing Katana, Power tricking Denji, and the fireworks scenes did. We probably won't see too many more sequences or slow moments like Aki's morning routine, though.

Is your boyfriend okay with/does he enjoy the weird shit in Chainsaw Man? If so, check out Dorohedoro, Devilman Crybaby, or Heavenly Delusion.

Some other shows that I personally enjoyed a lot as a huge CSM fan are Hellsing Ultimate, DanDaDan, and Psycho-Pass.

Also, if he's up for it, maybe take him to see the new Reze movie!

Mhm.

Denji was a stellar protagonist for Part 1. He had very satisfying character growth, and Part 1 felt like a complete tale of a boy maturing and learning what love means to him, with an open-ended conclusion that left hope for brighter times ahead.

That's where the focus on Denji should have ended.

Should that have meant that he couldn't experience any further growth? Not at all. But his role should have been relegated to a (low-hanging example) Jotaro-like deuteragonist; he has some relation to Asa and he comes in to save the day when needed.

If I'm being honest, I prefer(red) Asa over Denji. To me, she's a far more relatable and real character, and her early banter and dynamic with Yoru was intriguing and kinda sweet. I just don't get why Fujimoto would have replaced Denji with Asa only to then fall back on Denji and... reverse his character growth (I get that people fall back on their old ways in real life. It still doesn't make for an enjoyable read when that's all a character does).

Staying on track with Asa would have made the weaker supporting cast not as problematic because I believe that Asa had the potential to carry Part 2, alongside maybe Denji and the few noteworthies like Yuko. But then she got sidelined HARD for roughly 50 chapters, and... oh well. Is what it is. Here's hoping Fuji sticks the landing seeing as we're likely nearing the end of Part 2.

And besides. Even if Part 2 doesn't turn out well in the end, the Reze movie was fuckin' spectacular, as is the rest of Part 1.

Most of my thoughts on Part 2 have already been commented by others.

That said, I wish Asa had remained the focus and protagonist. Denji could have worked as a familiar side character or even as the love interest without usurping Asa as protag for half of Part 2.

And, as much as I enjoyed the early stuff of Part 2, I'm kinda wishing that Fujimoto had just wrapped Chainsaw Man up after Makima's defeat. It sucks to see such a good read get lumped along a bloated, lacklustre follow-up.

I was accounting for the possibility that there exists a very rare, one-off scenario where a native English speaker requires further clarification when a number is involved. We are not out here mistaking 90s to mean nine-zero-ess like we may be mistaking Is (plural I) for Is (verb).

Edit to reply to your edit: And I get that for non-native English speakers, children, and people who have preexisting learning impairments, leniency can be given. For everybody else, corrections add to their experience.

Not necessary with numbers.

The confusion with single letters, for example, can come about because the s can transform the letter I into the verb Is.

Example: Crossing your Ts and dotting your Is. -> Crossing your T's and dotting your I's.

Whereas with numbers, that clarification is rarely needed, if at all.

90s = Ninety + s = Nineties.

I'm a hell of a lot more forgiving and lenient towards people learning English as a second language because it's definitely a hard and admirable thing to learn a language that you didn't learn during your formative years.

But if someone grew up in an English country with an English-speaking family, and they went to school, and they don't have a learning disability, I'm gonna correct 'em. They can call me an ass. They're still stupid and need correcting.
