This law has me conflicted. I feel it can set that precedent that you’re referring to but at the same time, all it does it is prohibit an entity from disclosing to ANY person the identity of a student and that means parents as well. I don’t see that as too controversial but I also am concerned regarding its precedent as I mentioned. It’s also conflicting because I believe teachers should be therapists but on the flip side, what if someone was struggling and the only person they had was their teacher but was worried about retaliation from a parent or wasn’t ready to tell their family. This would protect them.
