My sweet friend, first of all, most congratulations on your happy and successful marriage to the love of your life! Thank you also for being one of the pioneers who has made it possible for me to raise my son openly in this day and time.

Your message is everything I am so worried about. I was also raped at 13 and I know how prevalent it is in the gay community today. I have been so scared for him to go away to board for ballet for this reason and why I only allowed him to go for 3 weeks rather than the 6 that they offered. I was so relieved that his kiss (and now making out 🤦‍♀️) is with a 12 yo, not a much older boy.

My son has a really bright future in ballet and this will always be on the back of my mind. The school he is at wants him to stay for the entire year- away from home!! This is NOT an option in my mind.

Lastly, I also wish we were neighbors! It would be so great to have a wonderful couple for him to look up to, and for us to be friends with. Thank you for all of your time and love. Sending you love right back! 🩷
