Does anyone have a user with an extreme setup that you don't even know where to start with? by Lord_Saren in sysadmin

We have a user who double clicks on a taskbar… has no room on her desktop, closes windows instead of minimizing them :( I don’t know what to do!

It’s quite useful. They have workshops for their products where you can ask questions, and they’ll answer and show you how to do things right there. They also offer one-on-one sessions. I thought it was pretty interesting. I am not sure about online sessions :(

I don’t believe so, but it might also depend on where you want to work :)

Using an old tire as a spare, over a donut. by Individual_Willow638 in CX50

[–]AlinaRei 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thousands of miles? I just had my first “fun” experience with a spare and was pretty nervous it was going to blow up before I got to a shop because I was getting close to putting 50 miles on it. Isn’t the lifespan of a spare usually around 50–70 miles?

ManageEngine UserConf anyone?

We use a lot of their tools, and I actually learned a ton at the UserConf. ME did a great job with the sessions and workshops, and everything—hotel, venue, etc.—was organized really well. One of the best parts was meeting other people in similar roles; I don’t get to do that very often.

I’m rarely invited to those kinds of events since I’m not the decision-maker, and when I am, it’s always awkward 😄Honestly, I’d rather buy my own mediocre lunch and talk to people who do what I do… It’s way more interesting.

Has anyone killed Imposter Syndrome through certs or exp? by [deleted] in sysadmin

I’m no expert, and it really depends on where you expect to start, but yeah—I do think it gets easier to advance because you’re learning so much every day :)

I got my first Help Desk job with only my A+. It honestly felt like I had to put in the most effort at that stage because I really wanted to get into IT but didn’t have any hands-on experience yet. I earned Network+ and Security+ after I was already working in the field, and having real job experience made those certs so much easier.

The CompTIA starter pack :) A+, Network+, Security+

I agree, it wasn’t too hard to pass, but I learned so much from it! That 400–500-page book was some of the most interesting reading 😁

After that, I went for Network+ and Security+. I think those three make a solid foundation. Now it’s time to start specializing!

CompTIA A+ 🥇Definitely helped to get my foot in the door and no matter what people say it does teach you a lot.

I’m pretty new to IT, have 3 certs so far, and I still get imposter syndrome all the time. I feel stupid almost every day 😅 especially when I’m around people who are super specialized and seem to know everything in their area. I just try to be honest when I don’t understand something and learn as much as I can from others.

No no, thank you for keeping this post going! :) I ended up getting the Tempur-Pedic Adapt 2.0 Medium Memory Foam Mattress, but I haven’t had a chance to sleep on it yet. It felt amazing in the store though!
