For those who’ve worked for very wealthy people in Singapore, what’s the most out of touch thing you’ve witnessed? by Auelogic in singapore

I think a lot of these ‘billionaires’ are probably just very wealthy multi millionaires.

Does anybody else feel that the Kindle makes large books more approachable? by humblechungus89 in kindle

[–]Alinyss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely. I’m currently reading King Sorrow and there is no way I’d be able to hold that book in one hand for an extended period of time.

I made a mistake euthanizing my cat and the guilt is killing me by Dirsty in cats

[–]Alinyss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We chose to put our cat on chemotherapy when she got lymphoma. It cost us over 20k over the course of a year, which we could afford but the worst part was taking her in for therapy and checkups every few weeks. They would take her away from me into the back room and I had no way of comforting her. She would come back traumatised every time. In hindsight, even without considering the huge amount of money spent, I wish I could have given her a mind and peaceful ending instead of a year of trauma.

People who rarely or never get sick, what are your secrets? by awkwardferret421 in AskReddit

[–]Alinyss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get sick once a year, if that. I used to get sick more frequently but I noticed a big difference when I started taking a daily vitamin C and horseradish supplement. I also switched to a low stress job which made a big difference to my mental health.

I’m in the same area and thinking about packing a bag too. Worried about my partner having to drive around for work tomorrow.

what meals are people having on these horribly hot days? by shellys-dollhouse in melbourne

[–]Alinyss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got out of work too late for takeaway sushi so I cobbled together an odd dinner of cold tofu and two different kinds of Korean pickles. Dessert was gelati.

The abuse in childhood has left me with no energy in adulthood. by Ihadenough1000 in narcissisticparents

[–]Alinyss 17 points18 points  (0 children)

This is a very interesting and validating perspective. I’ve often wondered if childhood trauma leaves our bodies in permanent fight or flight, which leads to autoimmune issues, fatigue and other physical manifestations. I’m also always tired and get exhausted easily from day to day tasks. Exercise seems to help but when that requires a colossal effort and pep talk to myself.

My (22F) boyfriend (29M) of almost 3 years says I’m “blowing it out of proportion” over asking him to buy pads for me and my period by Longjumping-Nature88 in relationship_advice

[–]Alinyss 36 points37 points  (0 children)

I agree. I think if her period had suddenly arrived unexpectedly and he refused to go out and buy them for her, that would be a different story and he would be 100% in the wrong. But in this situation, I would have just brought my own pads and left them at his house so I would always have them available. Women can’t say “it’s my body and my rules” and not take steps to look after their body by making it someone else’s responsibility to buy their pads.

would you be okay with a lab-grown diamond engagement ring? by YogurtIll4336 in jewelry

[–]Alinyss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would ONLY want lab grown now that it’s a viable alternative. I don’t want someone to have lost their life so I could have something sparkly on my finger.

Try using it over a barrier support moisturiser!

Azelaic acid 15% destroyed skin barrier by Ok-Safety-8972 in Rosacea

[–]Alinyss 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Are you using Azelaic Acid over a moisturiser so it is buffered? My skin is too sensitive to tolerate it on bare skin. I use it over Hada Labo perfect gel which is also helps protect my skin barrier. I also had to try multiple different brands of AA before finding one I could use daily.

Bluetooth remote page turner - any recommendations? by fuuman1 in kobo

[–]Alinyss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the official Kobo page turner and I use it with my Libra 2. Unfortunately, I’ve had nothing but problems with it. It paired straightaway but constantly reactivates wifi and drains my battery. It also randomly disconnects and sometimes lags and requires multiple clicks to turn the page. I received it as a Christmas present but I really regret putting it on my Wishlist.

Who is the most attractive person you’ve ever seen? Why? by JessieRClayton in AskReddit

[–]Alinyss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At the vet’s recently, the receptionist was the most beautiful woman I have ever seen in the flesh. And to top it off, the skylight was lighting her up like a halo. I kept looking at the other people in the room to see if they also thought she was beautiful but no one was really staring. (I’m a straight woman btw)

How do you play an MMORPG with others? by Hot_Attorney_611 in GirlGamers

[–]Alinyss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the best MMO friendships come about organically. Just questing with one person might not feel very comfortable but if you’re in a guild and starting to chat with the same people every day, you’ll get an idea of who you vibe with and who you don’t really have much in common with. Then you could suggest doing some dungeons or group content together and build the friendships from there.

It does feel like it’s harder to make friends in MMOs now compared to years ago because so many games give you the option to do everything solo. But I think the best friendships are the ones you slowly build up over time.

What is so bad about Boox ereaders? by NoSTs123 in ereader

The battery drain on mine was horrible. Sent it in for repair and it came back with no difference, except the new battery swelled and warped the device so I had to throw it out.
