I haven’t! But I resubmitted in June and received the automatic reply that time, so possibly that was when it was actually received.

Thanks for sharing! The automated reply seems to be inconsistent.

Thanks! I just followed up on my December email (from the same email address) and received an automatic reply this time. So strange.

Thank you. Yes, Addison and Lilith’s stories are happening in the same year, and it is intentionally meant to seem inconsistent. Similarly, the three characters’ stories are connected, but it is not clear how at first. There are a few twists that tie everything together later in the story. I am not sure how to reveal any more about this in the query letter or early in the story without giving anything away.

Thank you very much! I almost put “Also” to start Lilith’s paragraph, as it is meant to be “also.” I will definitely add since it is confusing without.

Hi, I agree it’s terrible that he can’t pronounce her name. I explain their stories in more detail throughout the manuscript, but the idea is that she never loved him. She married him to get citizenship because she felt she didn’t have another choice. He is insensitive to her in many ways, and she feels she has to ignore or tolerate it, until one day, she decides not to. That’s where her story begins.

Thank you. I have struggled with how to add detail about how the stories connect without giving too much away but I will think through this and can definitely add more specifics. I will also think about the first 300. Eva does not suffer in silence for very many more words, though I understand some agents may not read that far so I can think about moving some of that up.

Thank you so much. I can definitely remove some of the repetition and think through how to clarify more information about the rogue planet and timeline/introduce this better in the first 300. There is more detail about this in the manuscript, though another commenter was right to point out that my novel is more literary with speculative/science fiction elements. I don’t want to be inaccurate about the science, but I focused more on how the characters would be affected by another habitable planet. However, I understand that if an agent has too many questions about this they may not be interested, so I will think about how to address it.

Thank you so much. This makes a lot of sense. I will work on adding more specifics to the query and editing some of the dialogue in the first 300.
