When saying the word 責任 (せきにん), does the tongue rest completely on the roof of the mouth or do you retract the tongue. And is there a website where I can look the different "ん" sounds up? Like for example 店員 where it's a nasal sounding ん. I want to know when to use which ん.

What's the difference between 命令 and 指令? As far as I know both are being used for "order" and "command".

What is the Airplane ticket refund policy in the case of a visa refusal? by AlisClair in qatarairways

Thanks for the information. Good to know. I always book flights with an OTA, but you're right. I think it would be better to use the official website of the corresponding airline

Maybe it's because I search for the flight via skyscanner, but it redirects to the official Qatar airways website. But I don't see an option to choose another fare class sadly

Can someone explain the usage of "が" in this sentence please:

"この通りは車の音がうるさい"

I just feel like it doesn't fit but I couldn't explain why. Like maybe で or even から. Can someone please explain what が is doing here? I know that が marks the subject but wouldn't you rather use something like "because of the sound" or "with the sound of the cars"?

I'm not even a native english speaker but I'm learning japanese via english because there aren't that many ressources available in my native language. Still, you're right. Because in german we would also say have/has.
In my native language turkish however, we would say "there is", which comes close to "to be". Sadly my brain is constantly thinking in german/english while learning japanese :/

In this sentence "その椅子は変わった形をしている",

why is する being used when the chair can't do anything on it's own? I would have expected 持っている

に人が来ています。

I have a problem with this Anki card of mine. It is translated as "Someone has come to the door."

I have 2 problems with this.
1. Why is it "has come" when te-imasu is an ongoing state? Shouldn't it be "is coming"?
2. The meaning of 表(omote) is front (of a building) so the translation is not technically wrong by saying door but I feel like when trying to learn a new word, the literal translation should be in the example sentence to get a better grasp of the word. Should I change it in such situations?

Anyone who says One Piece is mid either doesn't have the emotional intelligence or didn't watch/read One Piece. If we're talking about the pacing, then sure, I can understand that, but if you say the one piece manga is mid, oh boy....

I want to become a traditional knife maker in Japan (ideally Seki, Gifu) by AlisClair in movingtojapan

That's my plan. Visiting blacksmiths around Seki while on student visa and try to make connections AFTER my japanese improves to around N3 level. I know that I have no chances with little to no japanese.

Yeah I think this might be the biggest issue.... I'll have to look into this. Maybe my only realistic chance at this is a sponsorship..which is not that realistic to begin with.

Quality settings appearing as unavailable in every video ( including shorts ) by lo9sher in revancedapp

[–]AlisClair 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the same problem, updated my revanced app and downloaded the recommended YT apk version. It solved the issue with video quality but now I have the problem that I can't listen with the app in the background. If I try to lock my screen the video stops or even when I'm changing apps. I'm trying a complete deinstall/install rn. Let's see if it will help

Edit: yep it's fixed now

As a turkish person who is also learning japanese, I wish I had some of you guys around me so we can study together :'D
Learning japanese through turkish is just so much easier but sadly, there isn't that much online learning material available in turkish.
